  • Patent number: 5139154
Abstract: An improved screen plate for a pressure screening apparatus and a method for making the basket are disclosed wherein prestressed areas are provided at each end of each slot formed in the screen plate for minimizing crack propagation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 27, 1989
Date of Patent: August 18, 1992
    Assignee: Beloit Corporation
Inventors: William A. Gero, Frank J. Paskowski, Jr.
  • Patent number: 5041212
Abstract: An improved efficiency screen plate for screening pulp in a pressure screening apparatus is disclosed wherein various design parameters are established which increase screen performance, particularly in screening medium consistency pulp. The basket is formed of thin, sheet-like material formed without machining into an undulating pattern. Undulation frequencies, slot location, turbulence bar frequency, and turbulence bar height are established for increasing screen performance.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 2, 1990
Date of Patent: August 20, 1991
    Assignee: Beloit Corporation
Inventors: William A. Gero, Frank J. Paskowski, Jr.
  • Patent number: 4706900
Abstract: A coiled spring system (20) particularly suited for use in a bowl mill (10) of the type that is employed for purposes of effectuating therewithin the pulverization of material such as coal. It is through the operation of the subject coiled spring system (20) that there is established the magnitude of the forces which the grinding rolls (18) of the bowl mill (10) apply to the coal for purposes of accomplishing the pulverization of the coal. The subject coiled spring system (20) includes stud bearing housing means (36), preload stud means (38) suitably supported from the stud bearing housing means (36), pressure spring means (40) positioned in surrounding relation to the preload means (38), and spring housing means (42) encircling the pressure spring means (40).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 15, 1985
Date of Patent: November 17, 1987
    Assignee: Combustion Engineering, Inc.
Inventors: Robert S. Prairie, Frank J. Paskowski, Jr.
  • Patent number: 4538768
Abstract: A journal bearing system (50, 52) particularly suited for use in a bowl mill (10) of the type that is employed for purposes of effecting therewithin the pulverization of material such as coal. The function of the subject journal bearing system (50, 52) is to provide the bearing support for the journal shaft (22, 54) on which the pulverizer roll (20) is mounted that through the coaction thereof with a suitable surface (14) provided for this purpose effects the pulverization of material.
