  • Patent number: 11493643
Abstract: A vehicle navigation system includes an external source sensor onboard a vehicle system that determines headings of the vehicle system. The external source sensor determines the headings using signals received from an off-board, external system. The navigation system also includes a magnetic sensor onboard the vehicle system that measures magnetic fields along different axes at different times. One or more processors determine a combination of the magnetic fields, determine a position translation and/or a magnitude scaling of the combination of the magnetic fields, and modify at least one of the headings based on the position translation and/or the magnitude scaling.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 8, 2020
Date of Patent: November 8, 2022
Assignee: Westinghouse Air Brake Technologies Corporation
Inventors: Brian James Langstraat, Craig Willard Vandeventer, Frank J. Swiderski, Keith Edward Smith

  • Patent number: 10654500
Abstract: An arrival time and location targeting system for a train, the system including at least one computer programmed or configured to: (a) receive at least one target location associated with a forward route of the train; (b) determine required time of arrival at the at least one target location based at least partially on the current location of a leading edge of the train; (c) determine an estimated time of arrival of the leading edge of the train at the at least one target location based at least partially on the current location of the leading edge of the train and the current speed of the train; and (d) based at least partially on the difference between the determined required time of arrival and the determined estimated time of arrival, generate a target speed of the train. A computer-implemented arrival time and location targeting method is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20170355378
Abstract: A monitoring system for detecting a condition in a vehicle, including at least one imaging device having a field of view including at least a portion of an interior cabin of the vehicle occupied by an operator of the vehicle during operation, a data storage medium configured to store parameter data in a database, the parameter data including control parameter data for the interior cabin of the vehicle, and at least one processor in communication with the at least one imaging device and the data storage medium. The at least one processor is programmed or configured to receive operational image data from the at least one imaging device, generate operational parameter data from the operational image data, compare the operational parameter data to the control parameter data, and determine if at least one operator is absent from the interior cabin and/or if at least one unauthorized display device is present in the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9829341
Abstract: The present invention is a flight deck situational awareness system for displaying Required Time of Arrival (RTA) information for an aircraft. The system may include a memory configured for storing aircraft navigation information for the aircraft. The system may also include a processor. The processor may be configured for being communicatively coupled with the memory and may further be configured for receiving the aircraft navigation information stored in the memory. The processor may generate a depiction based upon the aircraft navigation information. The depiction may include a Required Time of Arrival (RTA) flight cue for the aircraft. The system may further include a display, which may be communicatively coupled with the processor. The display may receive the depiction from the processor and may display the depiction.
