  • Publication number: 20060000953
Abstract: A pipe hold-down for securing a pipe to a building member includes a back having a base end, a distal end, and a fastener receiving aperture extending therethrough from the distal end to the base end. A claw extends outwardly from the back proximate the distal end thereof and curves toward the base end. A leg extends outwardly from the back proximate the base end thereof is more flexible than the back and bendable relative thereto. An opening is defined between a distal end of the claw and the leg. The leg is bendable between a normal position and a pipe admitting position wherein the leg is bent outwardly away from the claw, in the normal position the opening is substantially narrower than the outside diameter of the pipe and in the pipe admitting position the opening is at least as wide as the outside diameter of the pipe.

  • Publication number: 20040111625
Abstract: There is described an apparatus for generating a cryptographic key using data representative of an analogue source. The apparatus has a number generator which processes the data representative of the analogue source to generate an intermediate key, the intermediate key being a number, and a data store for storing a mapping key, the mapping key being a number predetermined to combine with the intermediate key in accordance with a monotonic mapping function to generate a desired cryptographic key. Preferably, the number generator processes the data representative of an analogue source in accordance with stored process data, determined by a training process, which indicates attributes of the data whose values are to be measured and adjustment data for adjusting the values to improve the repeatability of generation of the intermediate key.

  • Patent number: 6194619
Abstract: A catalyic process is disclosed for producing fluorine-substituted hydrocarbon products of the formulae RCH2CF2R and RFC═CHR at an elevated temperature, from compounds of the formula RCHFCHFR, where each R is independently selected from the group consisting of —CF3, —CF2CF3 and —CF2CF2CF3 or where both R groups of a formula together are —(CF2)2—, —(CF2)3— or —(CF2)4—. Suitable catalysts include carbon catalysts and catalysts containing at least one compound of a selected metal (e.g., Na, K, Rb, Cs, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Cr, Fe, Co, Rh, Ni, Cu, and/or Zn) supported on carbon. The saturated gem-dihydro- products may also be produced by hydrofluorinating the corresponding olefinic product over such catalysts at an elevated temperature, and can be combined with various other miscible solvents to form compositions useful for cleaning.

  • Patent number: 4064171
Abstract: In the catalytic reaction of cyclohexane or an alkylated cyclohexane with ammonia to produce aniline or an alkylated aniline, the presence of water is beneficial in increasing the amount of aromatic amines produced, or in reducing the amount of undesired by-products, or both. The amount of water is 1 to 70 mole percent based on the total amount of the cyclohexane reactant and water used. The catalysts used are exemplified by zinc oxide, titanium oxide, etc.; metal compounds such as vanadates, molybdates and titanates; and cadmium sulfide, zinc selenide and the like.
