  • Patent number: 5083733
Abstract: A clamp clamping a side of a container has a head portion and a pair of leg portions extending from the head portion and partially abutting opposite surfaces of the side of the container when in use. The head portion has support part angularly inclined to the leg portions. A first permanent magnet is mounted on the support part of the head portion in a manner whereby the magnet releasably holds a brush via the magnetic metal part of the brush over the lip of the container with the bristles of the brush over the open container and sloped downward from the handle of the brush, so that liquid on the bristles will drip into the container without befouling any of the brush, the container, or the proximate area of the container. A second permanent magnet is mounted on one of the leg portions of the clamp in a manner whereby the second magnet magnetically couples the clamp to a magnetic metal container.

  • Patent number: 5073967
Abstract: A humidifier including a base defining a liquid reservoir; an electrically energized humidification device adapted to induce dispersion of liquid retained by the reservoir; a power supply for supplying electrical current to the humidification device; a control circuit connecting the power supply to the humidification device and including a switch operable in an active state to produce energizing current flow between the power supply and the humidification device and operable in an inactive state to prevent energizing current flow therebetween; and a sensing mechanism operatively coupled to the switch and adapted to sense the liquid level in the reservoir, the sensing mechanism adapted to provide the active state for the switch in response to a minimum liquid level in the reservoir and to provide the inactive state for the switch in response to a liquid level in the less than the minimum liquid level.

  • Patent number: 4971248
Abstract: An automatic lawn treatment device includes a reservoir connected to a rotary type sprinkler for distributing a lawn treatment chemical at a controlled rate. A siphon nozzle in the reservoir mixes a liquid lawn treatment chemical with water from a supply source prior to distribution through the sprinkler. A graduated scale on the reservoir is provided for allowing a carefully measured amount of a treatment chemical to be distributed. A float actuated valve may be provided in the reservoir for shutting off the water flow after a predetermined quantity of chemical has been dispensed.

  • Patent number: 4868946
Abstract: Adjustable roller frame includes a body member and clamp member having laterally spaced apart grooves in opposing surfaces thereof which cooperate to define a pair of laterally spaced generally parallel guideways for sliding receipt of a pair of roller support arms. The arms are made of metal tubing bent into a generally L-shape including a short leg and long leg. Each long leg is deformed from opposite sides over a portion of its length to form a pair of relatively sharp corners extending the length of the deformed portion while generally maintaining the radius of the tubing between the corners to minimize internal stresses in the tubing. Between the corners and normal tube radius is a radiused transition area.

  • Patent number: 4590637
Abstract: A general purpose paint brush comprises an elongate handle, a generally tubular, longitudinally extending ferrule secured to said handle, and a tuft of longitudinally extending bristles having a working end and a root end anchored in said ferrule. The tuft has substantially parallel side faces extending transversely the width of the tuft and defining therebetween a lesser thickness of the tuft, and the working end of the tuft has a planar working surface sharply angled in relation to a plane normal to the lengths of the bristles from one side face of the tuft to the other side face across the full thickness of the tuft to provide greater exposure of bristles at the working surface which enables the brush to hold and apply more paint. Also, the working surface forms with the longer side face of the tuft a sharp knife edge at such side face of the brush which renders the brush particularly suitable for use as a trim brush while the full thickness inclined working surface provides a large paint transfer surface.

  • Patent number: 4495880
Abstract: A device, a method, and a system for reducing the draft of large vessels to allow the successful navigation of shallow waterways which could not otherwise be traversed due to the depth of the draft of the vessel. The implementation of this system will eliminate unnecessary dredging and facilitate full utilization of the ships' cargo capacity. The system is comprised of several buoyancy modules, control tender vessels, base point grids, appropriate computers, air compressors, and all other necessary equipment. Each buoyancy module of the system consist of two inflatable/deflatable pneumatic lift cells contained by sleeves positioned one at each end, with a base webbing connecting the two ends and forming the middle supportive portion of each module. The base webbing is positioned beneath the vessel oriented so as to position one pneumatic lift cell on each side of the vessel.

  • Patent number: 4253213
Abstract: A paint brush including a ferrule having a serrated skirt portion providing ribs and grooves which orient the bristle filaments and eliminate any gaps between the bristles and the ferrule. The serrated skirt portion may also slope inwardly and interact with a spacer member to help hold the bristles in the desired oriented condition.

  • Patent number: 4027351
Abstract: The ferrule of a bristle brush includes an annular bead peripherally about the ferrule proximate one end thereof, and the bead has a sufficiently large cross-sectional profile and circumscribes a volume having a sufficiently large cross-sectional area relative to the cross-sectional area of the volume circumscribed by the major tubular extent of the ferrule in order to permit expansion of that part of the bristle hold located in the volume circumscribed by the bead. A hardenable liquid adhesive material poured into the ferrule after the bristle is positioned therein will permeate appreciably into the hold of the bristle thereby substantially to encapsulate the same and to secure the filaments thereof tenaciously to the ferrule.
