  • Patent number: 8557882
Abstract: A method for preparing contaminated plastics ground into flakes, such as RPET or such polymers, having at least decontamination and SSP treatment steps, with at least one reactor, with heating to the process temperature taking place essentially outside the reactor. Also, a device for carrying out the method, and having at least one decontamination reactor and at least one SSP reactor, a device for heating plastic flakes to the process temperature being arranged upstream of the decontamination reactor. Also an SSP reactor having at least two individual reactors, and preferably between 3 and 7 individual reactors.

  • Patent number: 8258957
Abstract: A transponder that may be used as an RFID tag includes a passive circuit to eliminate the need for an “always on” active RF receiving element to anticipate a wake-up signal for the balance of the transponder electronics. This solution allows the entire active transponder to have all circuit elements in a sleep (standby) state, thus drastically extending battery life or other charge storage device life. Also, a wake-up solution that reduces total energy consumption of an active transponder system by allowing all non-addressed transponders to remain in a sleep (standby) state, thereby reducing total system or collection energy. Also, the transponder and wake-up solution are employed in an asset tracking system.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 17, 2011
Date of Patent: September 4, 2012
Assignee: University of Pittsburgh—Of the Commonwealth System of Higher Education
Inventors: Marlin H. Mickle, Alex K. Jones, James T. Cain, Peter J. Hawrylak, Frank Marx, Raymond R. Hoare

  • Publication number: 20060284930
Abstract: Methods and arrangements for adjusting and maintaining a lateral or radial position of a nozzle such as a nozzle in an ink jet print head. Since the alignment of an ink stream issuing from a nozzle in ink jet applications is usually critical in that the ink jet stream must be directed to a specific target area, described herein are arrangements for enabling the nozzle and issuing ink stream to be precisely aligned for calibration and maintenance purposes. In addition the adjustment is simplified and once made it stays in position. Similar principles can be applied to other types of nozzles and arrangements wherein another type of fluid, or even light, is issued out.

  • Patent number: 5902007
Abstract: Door entry area for a motor vehicle has a cover for a cable duct and a door entry rail joined by metal clamps with a sill flange lengthwise member. The cover for the cable duct has a strip-shaped projection that overlaps the sill flange by force and in a sealing fashion, and the door entry rail is designed as a T-section that has a central retaining member and two shaped legs that project approximately horizontally in the assembled state, with the retaining rib being lockable by means of a latching connection accessible for disassembly in a receiving groove of the cover that abuts the projection and runs along the sill flange.
