  • Patent number: 5873284
Abstract: A portable tool having a frame, a power unit having a control that is operable to place the power unit in first and second different states, a control actuator that is operable to change the power unit from one of the first and second states into the other of the first and second states, and an arm connecting between at least one of the frame and power unit and the control actuator for supporting the control actuator in an operative position relative to the frame. At least a part of the arm has a plurality of degrees of freedom of movement relative to the frame to allow selective situation of the control actuator by a user.

  • Patent number: 5372434
Abstract: A cylindrical spindle for mounting a bearing or other member that requires lubrication, the spindle having an internal longitudinal passageway for conducting the lubricant to the bearing from an end of the spindle, and having a lateral passageway to receive a cotter pin for locking a nut on the spindle for retaining the bearing in place, the two passageways being nonintersecting with the lateral passageway extending substantially along a diameter of the cylindrical spindle and the longitudinal passageway being offset from the longitudinal axis of the cylindrical spindle.

  • Patent number: 5092501
Abstract: Wire coat hangers having transverse cross sections of unique configuration. In a first embodiment, the hanger has a rounded, generally "T"-shaped configuration when seen in transverse section. In a second embodiment, the cross section of the hanger has the configuration of a five pointed star with circumferentially and equidistantly spaced and radially extending fins having a common extent and having round distal free ends. Other embodiments have various star-shaped cross sections and include two to twelve fins. In all embodiments, the unique cross sectional shapes are achieved by roll forming or drawing. In the "T"-shaped configuration, a 62% reduction in material is achieved, and in the star-shaped configuration, a 50% reduction in materials is attained. The new coat hangers therefore use much less material than conventional round in section coat hangers, but are about equally strong.

  • Patent number: 4800746
Abstract: A wire straightener, and multiple preform rollers prepare a continuous length wire for further forming with multiple form rollers having multiple spaced apart notches on an exterior surface edge of the rollers. The notches cause a section of the wire to be non-formed. After the formed wire is fed to a gripper housing where the wire is cut to a predetermined length, the non-formed section is punched to create the fastener head. The end section of the fastener opposite the head is tapered and the finished fastener is ejected from the machine.
