  • Patent number: 5062615
Abstract: The invention relates to apparatus for the introduction of reagents in powder form into a melting pan, in which the lance is arranged eccentrically with respect to the pan axis and the outlet nozzles are directed into the larger region of the pan enclosing the pan axis. Such apparatus is distinguished by optimum mixing in of the added reagents.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 17, 1990
Date of Patent: November 5, 1991
    Assignee: Krupp Polysius AG
Inventors: Frank Schaberg, Heribert Martens, Peter Pohlmann
  • Patent number: 4808108
Abstract: The heat treatment of fine-grained material wherein two quantities of fuel are delivered to a precalcination zone at two different levels. The first quantity of fuel is delivered at a lower level nearer the combustion zone and the oxygen content of the gases passing through this region of the precalcination zone are such that in this region a substoichiometric combustion takes place and a CO content between 0.05% and 1% is established. As a result a reducing decomposition of the NO.sub.x content of the exhaust gases from the combustion zone takes place.

  • Patent number: 4472062
Abstract: The invention relates to a continuous mixing silo and a method of operating it for the mixing of fine-grained material. The silo has a base provided with a plurality of zones which are supplied with aerating air in chronological sequence. Individual zones of the base are supplied with additional air in a pulse-like manner at specific intervals of time to achieve intensive aeration and mixing of the material. The additional air is supplied from a storage unit for a shorter period than the aerating air. Air taken from the storage unit is replenished during the time interval between pulses.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: September 18, 1984
    Assignee: Krupp Polysius AG
Inventors: Gerhard Balzau, Gunter Kompa, Frank Schaberg, Manfred Steinmann, Helmut Kucharski
  • Patent number: 4213790
Abstract: A process for producing cement wherein preheated, partially calcined powder-form raw material is finally calcined in a fluidized bed and is discharged to a cooler through which a cooling stream of air passes. A part of the cooling air passes into the fluidized bed from below and another part of the cooling air, together with the partially calcined material, passes into the fluidized bed from the side. The rates of material flow to and from the fluidized bed is regulated to maintain a substantially uniform intersticial ratio between the upper and lower regions of the fluidized bed.
