  • Patent number: 4818385
Abstract: The specification discloses an externally mounted filter for filtering contaminated fluids from a fluid-containing system. Fluid is conducted from the system to a housing, through a filter element inside the housing, and back to the system. The filter includes an indicator, visible to a person viewing the housing, which is configured to assume an indicating configuration upon exposure to a fluid pressure in the filter in excess of a predetermined level. The filter is configured to discriminate between momentary fluid pressure surges and excess fluid pressure in the filter so that the indicator is not prematurely activated.

  • Patent number: 4802979
Abstract: An oil filter attaches to an internal combustion engine and filters the oil that is circulated through the engine. The filter includes a first can and a second can that may be attached together or separated apart. The first can attaches to the engine, and it has a first inlet and a first outlet for receiving oil from and transmitting oil to the engine. It also has a second inlet and a second outlet for receiving oil from and transmitting oil to the second can. The second can sealably attaches and detaches from the first can and, when attached, the second outlet of the first can is connected to an inlet of the second can, and an outlet of the second can is sealably connected to the second inlet of the first can. Filters are disposed within the two cans and flow directing apparatus is provided to direct the oil from the engine, through the two filters in series and back to the engine. In alternate embodiments, the cans include removable lids so that the filter element may be removed from a can.

  • Patent number: 4693357
Abstract: The specification discloses a coin mechanism for dispensing machines including two or more rectangular chutes for receiving and containing a given number of coins. A rectangular gate selectively directs coins into the chutes and a rocker arm is operable to move the gate from a first position directing coins into the first chute to a second position directing coins into the second chute when the coins reach a predetermined height in a first chute. A pawl is adjustably mounted adjacent to the second chute to prevent upward movement of a predetermined number of coins deposited in the second chute. A catch plate pivotally attached to the door of the dispensing machine below the chutes supports the coins therein. The catch plate receives a hook which prevents opening of the door until the coins in the second chute are high enough to engage the pawl. A number of intermediate chutes may be located between the first and second chutes.

  • Patent number: 4236650
Abstract: A dispensing apparatus for dispensing individual ones of a stack of flexible, layered articles, including a first article and adjacent articles, includes a housing. An access opening adapted to permit individual withdrawal of the articles by an operator is defined in the housing. A magazine locates the first article in a position adjacent to the access opening. A scoop is pivotally mounted adjacent to the access opening to pivot between a closed position closing the access opening and an open position permitting access to the first article through the access opening and preventing access to adjacent articles.
