  • Method of reducing defects caused by conductor roll surface anomalies using high volume bottom sprays

    Abstract: Defects in metal strips in a continuous electroplating process caused by surface anomalies in the conductor roll are reduced and/or eliminated by spraying a large volume water on the electroplated surface before it contacts the conductor roll. The water must be sprayed in a volume of at least 0.01 gallon per inch of strip width per minute per conductor roll.

    Abstract: Galvannealed electroplated steel strip. The strip is heated to an alloying temperature of at least about 427.degree. C. using an induction coil operated at a frequency to produce an eddy current penetration depth of one-half the strip thickness. The diffusion temperature and time are controlled to minimize the formation of brittle gamma alloy phases in the zinc/iron alloy coating.

    Abstract: Thermoset microporous polymer lubricating compositions and methods for forming the same are disclosed. Each thermoset composition disclosed includes a thermosetting polymer that is formed into a microporous matrix capable of receiving a lubricating oil in the interconnected microscopic pores of the matrix during formation thereof, with the lubricating oil being thereafter retained in the pores until released through capillary draw, externally applied forces or elevated temperatures.
