  • Patent number: 9982408
Abstract: A gear pair for a lifting vessel includes two gear units driving in opposite directions of rotation and configured for engagement in two tooth racks on a jack-up leg, respectively. Each gear unit includes a drive shaft for connection to a drive, an output shaft for connection to a drive pinion, a transmission housing, a planetary stage mounted in the transmission housing, and a torque support configured to enable support of the gear unit on the other gear unit. The torque support surrounds the transmission housing of the other gear unit in a pincer-like manner and contacts the transmission housing symmetrically with respect to a straight line connecting the output shafts of the gear units at two support points which in relation to a vertical plane extending through the output shaft of the other gear unit are located offset towards the gear unit having the torque support.

  • Publication number: 20160341280
Abstract: A method of amending a multi-stage gearing apparatus comprising: a main shaft (100); at least one bull gear (102, 104) on said main shaft (100); a number of intermediate gears (114, 116, 118, 120) located around a perimeter of said bull gear (102, 104); each one of said intermediate gears (114, 116, 118, 120) being connected to an intermediate shaft (124, 126, 128, 130) having a pinion (106, 107; 108, 109; 110, 111; 112, 113) that engages said bull gear (102, 104); a plurality of output shafts (142, 144, 146, 148), each one of said output shafts (142, 144, 146, 148) having an output pinion (134, 136, 138, 140) that engages two adjacent intermediate gears (114, 116, 118, 120); and, a number of rotational devices (150, 152, 154, 156), each rotational device being connected to a respective one of said output shafts (142, 144, 146, 148), characterised in that the method comprises the following step: adjusting the set-up of the gearing apparatus so that the mesh of at least one of the output pinions (134

  • Patent number: 6761082
Abstract: A gear drive apparatus for converting a rotational input provided by a drive device, such as a wind power generator rotor, into a predetermined rotational output for driving rotation of a driven device, such as a generator, includes a large gear coupled to the drive device and a pair of output pinion shafts coupled to the driven device. A first gear level includes eight primary level pinion shafts each having gear teeth meshingly engaged with the outer circumferential gear teeth of the first large gear. The eight primary level gear or pinions are coaxially secured to the eight primary level pinion shafts for driving rotation thereof. Four secondary level gears and four secondary level pinion shafts form a secondary gear level which rotates the pair of output pinion shafts.
