  • Patent number: 9903940
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to a localization scheme that may use ultrasound signatures exchanged among entrusted devices to locate lost or otherwise misplaced devices. More particularly, a user device may initially exchange an ultrasound signature or other inaudible audio signature with an entrusted device (e.g., during a pairing procedure with the entrusted device) and subsequently search an ultrasound domain in response to detecting an inactive state (e.g., based on measurements that indicate inflicted motion or processor activity). As such, in response to detecting the initially exchanged ultrasound signature in the ultrasound domain, which may be emitted from the entrusted device or an unpaired device that has been authorized to emit the ultrasound signature, the user device may generate an audible or visual notification in a user domain and optionally further enable more sophisticated user notification and localization tasks to assist in locating the user device.

  • Patent number: 9294840
Abstract: One embodiment of the invention is directed to a speaker system comprising a first speaker apparatus comprising a housing, speaker components positioned substantially inside the housing and at least one first speaker apparatus charging member, wherein the speaker components include a power source, and a second speaker apparatus comprising a housing, speaker components positioned substantially inside the housing and at least one second speaker apparatus charging member. The first speaker apparatus and the second speaker apparatus are configured to each provide a different component of reproduced sound at the same time. The second speaker apparatus is configured to recharge the power source of the first speaker apparatus.

  • Patent number: 8823494
Abstract: Systems and methods for wireless device connection and pairing are provided. Embodiments relate to automatic device connection or pairing by accessing or acquiring a machine-readable feature. Machine-readable features may include printed or displayed machine-readable indicia, such as linear (e.g., one-dimensional) barcodes, matrix (e.g., two-dimensional) barcodes, quick response (QR) codes, characters, symbols, labels, pictorial icons, graphics, images, watermarks, holograms, or any other printed or displayed indicia that may be used to encode, represent, or lookup information. Machine-readable features may also include non-printed features, such as magnetic strips, radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, various other types of sensors and tags embedded or attached to electronic devices, and audio and visual signals.

  • Publication number: 20140012666
Abstract: In various example embodiments, systems and methods for transferring digital media rights in a social network environment are provided. For example, an indication to transfer digital rights in a digital content is received from a user of a social network. A first network connection in the social network associated with the user is determined. An advertisement of the digital content and an offer to transfer the digital rights may be presented to the first network connection. The digital rights in the digital content may be transferred to the first network connection.

  • Patent number: 8451910
Abstract: A method and apparatus for real time adjustment of wireless transmission in a media device (e.g., webcam), as opposed to a server or computer. In one embodiment, the adjustment, or dynamic tuning, involves tracking available bandwidth of the radio signaling rate and varying one of the retry rate, compression and frame rate. Also, the adjustment can be made on the basis of forecasts based on past behavior. A tracking and control algorithm is used to modulate the video bit-rate from the camera with the dynamic bit-rate available in a WiFi link.

  • Patent number: 8384820
Abstract: A system and method for optimizing a video stream from a high frame rate image sensor. The high frame rate video stream is split into two separate video streams so that one video stream can be shown to a user or recorded, while the other video stream can be processed. The processed video stream can be analyzed for sharpness to adjust for focus or it can be imaged with or without an optical filter and used to enhance the appearance of the other video stream.

  • Publication number: 20110292241
Abstract: A video camera includes a light collection array including a plurality of light collection cells configured to collect light from a scene and a processor coupled to the light collection array. The processor is configured determine a brightness of the scene based on the light collected by the light collection array from the scene. Based on the determined brightness, the processor is configured to determine if the brightness of the scene requires a light collection time of each cell to be less than a flicker on time of a light source lighting the scene so that the light collection array collects a sufficient amount of light so that a brightness of a video stream or a still image is substantially at a predetermined level.

  • Publication number: 20080147928
Abstract: A system and method for seamlessly switching between various bus interfaces on a device, regardless of the application using the device. The change of the bus interface being used is completely transparent to the application using the device. A system in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention creates a Physical Device Object (PDO) that is unique for each device, regardless of which bus interface is used by the device. An application using that is essentially linked to this unique PDO. In one embodiment, an exhaustive list of various devices connected to the different bus interfaces is created. This is done by creating a bridge between the enumerators for the various buses and a class enumerator.
