  • Patent number: 5292637
Abstract: A process and an apparatus for biological conversion (composting) of organic waste material, e.g. from kitchens or restaurants, involving use of a heat-insulated housing (1) having at least two separate chambers (7, 8). In the first chamber (7), organic material is introduced and treated in the presence of microorganisms until an intermediate stage of conversion into biomass only. A portion of the partially converted material, responsive to a certain temperature measured in the first chamber (7), is transferred for a final composting into the second chamber (8). Waste organic material is newly introduced into the first chamber (7) and treated therein together with a remaining portion of the partially converted material; thereby, because of the presence of a sufficient amount of active microorganisms in the first chamber (7), the process of conversion of the newly introduced waste material is started immediately.

  • Patent number: 4682712
Abstract: A device for the preparation of a mixture of a basic fluid and at least one additional fluid in a definite mixing ratio is described. The device has a main piston which is movable in a master cylinder between two limit positions. A control unit can feed basic fluid under pressure alternately to one side of the piston and to the other. The main piston is connected to at least one metering piston which is movable in a metering cylinder having an inlet for an additional fluid and an outlet connected to the mixing vessel. In operation, movement of the main piston in the direction which increases the volume of the metering chamber formed in the metering cylinder causes additional fluid to be fed to the metering chamber through its inlet, while movement of the main piston in the opposite direction causes additional fluid in the metering chamber to be expelled through the metering cylinder outlet into the mixing vessel.

  • Patent number: 4623449
Abstract: Apparatus for the separation of the reusable part from the unusable part of granular form filter material from filter equipment, particularly granular form activiated charcoal, comprising a base frame; a sieve drum for sieving of the granular form filter material rotatably mounted on the base frame; means for driving the seive drum; and means for pneumatically withdrawing the granular form filter material from the filter equipment and supplying the filter material to the sieve drum.

  • Patent number: 4567673
Abstract: In a method of and apparatus for heat-drying of webs, especially printed or inked webs, the web is first subjected to a contactless heat shock treatment, for example by hot air at about 300.degree. C. It is then heated by a contact process at a lower temperature, for example by heated rollers at about 230.degree. C., after which it is cooled by a contact process in a third step. Each of the heated rollers may have associated therewith a roller for applying a film of a buffer agent and also a cleaning roller. Energy expended in the processes is recovered by the use of heat exchangers. The apparatus may comprise a closed housing divided into separate chambers within which the sequence of steps is carried out.

  • Patent number: 4538919
Abstract: An apparatus for automatically producing solutions at predetermined dosages is proposed in particular of cleaning water for pressing machines wherein water is used as main fluid and a concentrate to be added to the water. The apparatus has a dosing device which communicates with a mixing container and includes a reciprocating control slide which alternatingly supplies the main fluid which is under pressure to one side of a plunger which thus reciprocates in dependence on the control slide and discharges the main fluid in the mixing container, each side of the plunger being connected to a piston rod which has a piston through which the concentrate is also exactly discharged to the mixing container.

  • Patent number: 4118191
Abstract: Apparatus for the sterilization of gases, which can be associated with facilities for the distribution or circulation of air or with air-conditioning plant, for example. Instead of employing conventional technology based upon filtration techniques, in which harmful components such as germs are filtered out and attempts are made to kill them on the surfaces of filter elements, media-pervious materials are arranged so that germs and other harmful components carried in the gases are forced through the materials with a residence time sufficient to ensure substantially complete killing by means of UV-radiation directed at the materials. The preferred media-pervious material is a porous form of quartz.
