  • Patent number: 7982332
Abstract: A power device for use in a vehicle includes a housing, a voltage converter, and a charge-storing device. The housing carries the voltage converter and the charge-storing device. The voltage converter includes a circuit that converts a power signal having a first voltage level to a second voltage level. The charge-storing device electrically couples with the voltage converter and stores the power signal having the second voltage level.

  • Patent number: 7759835
Abstract: In a stator for an electric machine and a method for manufacturing a winding for the stator of such an electric machine L-shaped wire segments having a rectangular cross-section are inserted into slots arranged around the stator The long leg of the L-shaped wire segment is then inserted, into or through, a respective slot and the wire segment is then bent into an S-shape resulting in a second short leg while reducing a length of the long leg. The first short leg of each one of a majority of the wire segments is then electrically connected to the first short leg of another one of the wire segments and the second short leg of each one of a majority of the wire segments is electrically connected to the second short leg of yet another one of the wire segments.

  • Publication number: 20090242292
Abstract: In a method for operating an electric machine which is coupled to a drive shaft, the electric machine is connected to a high voltage direct-current power supply line (HDVC) by a switch and the rotational speed of the connected electric machine or of the drive shaft coupled with the electric machine is determined and the electric machine is disconnected from the high-voltage direct-current power supply line (HVDC) when the rotational speed of the electric machine or, respectively, the driveshaft is above a predetermined threshold.

  • Patent number: 7256514
Abstract: Device and method for operation of at least one electrical machine for a motor vehicle. In order to coordinate torque requirements for the propulsion system and voltage requirements for the vehicle power supply system and at least one battery for the vehicle power supply system, a voltage reference variable is formed for the voltage requirements for the vehicle power supply system, and a torque reference variable is formed for the torque requirements of the propulsion system. The voltage reference variable is limited by upper and lower torque limit values which must not be overshot or undershot in the event of changes to the voltage reference variable. The torque reference variable is limited by voltage limit values which must not be overshot or undershot in the event of torque changes.

  • Publication number: 20060091848
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for battery state identification. The battery state is determined by measurement of the voltage of a motor vehicle battery during the starting process over a predetermined time period, determination of a minimum voltage level of the motor vehicle battery during the predetermined time period of the measurement process, assessment of the state of charge of the vehicle battery on the basis of the minimum voltage level, and control of the generator as a function of the assessment of the state of charge of the motor vehicle battery, thus ensuring an adequate supply to the vehicle power supply system and adequate charging of the vehicle battery, while at the same time optimizing the fuel consumption and the emissions.
