  • Patent number: 10830915
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to detecting subterranean formations using electromagnetic depth sounding. A method for detecting formation properties may comprise of disposing a transmitter at a surface, disposing a receiver at the surface, coupling a high frequency wave to a low frequency wave to form an electromagnetic pulse, transmitting the electromagnetic pulse into a formation from the transmitter, receiving a reflected electromagnetic wave from the formation with the receiver, and determining the depth and nature of the formation from the surface. A formation measuring system may comprise a transmitter, wherein the transmitter is configured to couple a high frequency wave to a low frequency wave to form an electromagnetic pulse. The formation measuring system may further comprise at least one receiver, a data acquisition system, and an analysis unit.

  • Patent number: 6188221
Abstract: An electromagnetic (EM) survey system for determining the presence of liquid or gaseous deposits within the earth's interior. The system includes an EM pulse generator for generating the EM pulses, a data acquisition system for receiving and processing reflected signals from the earth's interior caused by the EM pulses, and a data processing system for analyzing the reflected signals to determine the presence of fluids in the earth's interior. Delivery of the EM pulses to the earth's interior can be accomplished either invasively or non-invasively. In an invasive manner, the EM pulse is delivered to the earth's interior via a set of electrodes buried shallow into the ground. In a non-invasive coupling, the EM pulse is delivered to the earth's interior via a wire loop. The reflected signals are received from the earth's interior via one of a wire loop, set of electrodes, wire antenna, or rod antenna array.

  • Patent number: 4882676
Abstract: A billiard ball tracking system is disclosed. According to the present invention, the system may be used to either instruct a player to improve his playing capabilities or to rate the comparative skills of two competing players. The system according to the present invention is provided with means to indicate a selected layout of cue ball and object balls and means for indicating a preferred shot. Once a player has designated a particular object ball and the desired movement of the ball on the playing surface of a pool table, the system will calculate the optimum paths of cue ball and playing ball in order for the playing ball to be pocketed as designated by the player. In the most preferred embodiment of the present system, the system will, through the use of a laser tracking system, accurately track the changing position of all of the playing balls on the playing surface of the pool table.

  • Patent number: 4063244
Abstract: An improved receiver/timing apparatus is disclosed for use in a single frequency, time-shared, continuous wave, phase-comparison positioning system wherein a trigger signal is transmitted from a master station and wherein pattern frequency signals are transmitted from the master and a plurality of slave stations. The improved receiver/timing apparatus comprises a trigger processor and a timing generator. After acceptable good trigger transmissions have been received for a predetermined number of successive trigger intervals, subsequent trigger transmissions from the master transmitting station are sampled only during a precise interval which is dictated by a timing generator. Also, the timing generator is "locked in" at that time, and spurious electrical transmissions can not reinitialize the timing generator and proper phase comparison is, therefore, maintained.
