  • Publication number: 20220244376
Abstract: An apparatus for automatically identifying an object in radar signals based on multiple predefined object-specific tests. The object-specific tests are based on features of spectral data of the radar signals, the spectral data including a spectrum as function of frequencies and a cepstrum as function of quefrencies. The apparatus includes a visualization module that visualizes feature-specific structures in the spectrum by at least one of the following: generating a first modified spectrum by keeping a predefined number of data points with largest amplitude values in the spectrum, while setting all other amplitude values to a default value, defining a threshold based on a statistical upper limit for variations of the spectrum in a range spaced from a maximal value. The apparatus also includes a classification module that identifies the object based on predefined tests testing a presence of multiple features, the testing being performed on a result of visualization module.

  • Patent number: 8193972
Abstract: In a method for adaptive calculation of pulse compression filter coefficients for a received signal in a radar installation, which received signal is evaluated with the aid of a complex pulse compression mismatch filter, a pulse compression filter coefficient set h(t) is calculated for an ideal theoretical received signal s(t) for a pulse compression mismatch filter, such that a pulse compression output signal results with a desired main lobe to side lobe ratio.

  • Patent number: 6731233
Abstract: In a method of suppressing jammer signals in the received signal of radar antennas of HPRF applications (such as pulse Doppler radar systems) by means of Fast Fourier Transformation and side lobe cancellation, the receiving radar antenna has a sum channel, a difference channel and an auxiliary channel. The received signal is first transformed in the sum, difference and auxiliary channels from the time domain into the frequency domain using a Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT). Subsequently, the the jammer signal, particularly the side lobe jammer, is suppressed in the frequency domain by means of side lobe cancellation.

  • Patent number: 6140982
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for identifying targets as a friend or foe, which is operated in the millimeter-wavelength range by means of an interrogator and a transponder, with the interrogator and the transponder having essentially the same electronic assemblies and operating in essentially the same middle transmitting and receiving frequency, and with a large frequency difference between the two being tolerable. The interrogator operates with a directional transmitting/receiving antenna, whereas the transponder possesses an omnidirectional transmitting/receiving antenna.

  • Patent number: 6040797
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of detecting a radar target, especially a sea target, in the presence of clutter caused by ocean waves in particular. To detect a radar target within a predeterminable region, first a measurement window corresponding to this region is formed in the video range of the radar system, and a frequency distribution is determined for all pulse-height values (amplitudes) within the measurement window. The average value and the standard deviation can be determined from the distribution; from these values, a hit-recognition threshold is determined and used to decide whether a pulse-height value is to be associated with a radar target to be detected.

  • Patent number: 5796364
Abstract: A method of determining the velocity of a radar target wherein at least two different pulse repetition frequencies are used. Each pulse repetition frequency comprises a predetermined division into equidistant Doppler numbers. For an echo signal, a Doppler number associated with the echo signal is determined for each pulse repetition frequency. Out of two Doppler numbers associated with different pulse repetition frequencies, a nonambiguous Doppler number is subsequently determined which lies within a predetermined velocity nonambiguity range, and the velocity of the radar target is determined from this Doppler number.

  • Patent number: 5793326
Abstract: A method and arrangement for generating a clutter threshold by means of a CFAR circuit. In the process the partial registers of the CFAR are subdivided into storage blocks each containing a plurality of cell, and a block sum is formed from the sample values stored in each storage block. To form the clutter threshold for a signal under test, the individual block sums are compared in pairs according to a predetermined scheme, during which the greater block sum is determined. From these resulting greater sums, the smallest block sum (minimum) is selected and, from this, the clutter threshold is determined with a predetermined weighing. According to an alternative method, the block sums are sorted according to an order of precedence. Thereafter, block sum having a predetermined ordered rank is selected from the sorted block sums, and the clutter threshold is determined from this selected sum after a predetermined weighing.
