Abstract: The invention relates to an electrical signal equaliser (SE) comprising a first transversal filter part (F1) with a chain of delay elements (D12-D14), individually adjustable signal weighting devices and a signal adding device (SU1), wherein the inputs of the weighting devices are each connected to one of said delay elements and the outputs are each connected to said adding device, wherein a signal splitting device (SP) is comprised connecting the first output to said first transversal filter part (F1) and connecting the other output to a second transversal filter part (F2), that a signal combining device (AD) is comprised connected to the outputs of the adding devices (SU1, SU2) of the two filter parts (F1, F2) and that signal inverting means are comprised for inverting the polarity of the output signals of one of said filter parts, an optical receiver and a method therefor.

Abstract: A receiving device for an optical signal that is impaired by disturbances, wherein the receiving device has an adaptive filter device that serves to compensate at least partly for disturbances in the optical signal and that is controlled by a feedback signal is characterized in that the feedback signal is generated by correlating the optical signal with a further signal that is formed with respect to the optical signal in such a way that, in the absence of disturbances in the optical signal, at most a slight correlation is present.

Abstract: An optical receiver with an electronic filter is described, the parameters of the filter being set by means of high-speed eye monitors. Also described is a high-speed eye monitor with threshold-value decision elements which are set close to the vertices of the eye of an eye diagram, the eye monitor being optimized through connection of a pseudo-error generator and comparison with setpoint values and outputting the eye opening and the Q-factor.

Abstract: A process is proposed for recovering disturbed digital signals, wherein the electrical signals pass through a feedback equalizer and an analogue control of the setting parameters of the equalizers is performed. A pseudo-error monitor, which facilitates a high-speed adjustment of decision element thresholds, is also provided.

Abstract: To protect the high frequency circuits arranged in a casing and which are operated at frequencies of >1 GHz to 100 GHz against inner electromagnetic perturbing radiation, the complete circuit (1) is equipped on both sides with a large area layer (3, 4) which absorbs electrical fluctuations. The layer (4), made from a material which absorbs electrical fluctuations, such as silicon with average conductivity, is arranged below the circuit carrier (1). The circuit carrier (1) with the components (5) is encapsulated by a dielectric material such as silicon sealing compound or epoxy resin. The layer (3) made from a sealing compound which absorbs electrical fluctuations, such as silicon filled with iron powder, is arranged above the encapsulated circuit carrier (1, 2).
