  • Patent number: 11224776
Abstract: A terminal fixture is provided for installation at the end of each sprinkler head drop in a fire protection system. The terminal fixture is an automatic valve device that operates in response to the installation or removal of a sprinkler head from the fixture itself. When the sprinkler head is removed the terminal valve operates to close the end of the sprinkler drop feed line to prevent flow of fire protection fluid by preventing an open system. When a sprinkler head is reinstalled into the valve, the valve plunger is automatically displaced to an open position to restore full and unobstructed flow to the sprinkler head returning the drop to full and operable status. In this manner, no manual valves are added to the system which would prevent failsafe operation thereof.

  • Patent number: 6776709
Abstract: An openable floor vent cover for use in preventing debris from entering a floor vent during construction is comprised of a board having a length and width larger than the vent to be covered. Then board is provided with a cut substantially in the shape and size of the vent to be covered. An airflow permable debris barrier is attached to the periphery of a first surface of the board. The portion of the board within the cut is removable to enable airflow from the vent as desired during construction, and may be replaced when airflow from the vent is no longer needed. The board is nailed to the subflooring surrounding the vent. The cover may be removed after construction.

  • Patent number: 6024175
Abstract: A sprinkler head adapter for use in a fire protection sprinkler system and a fire protection sprinkler system enable fire retardant fluid flow from the fire protection sprinkler system only when a sprinkler head is inserted into the sprinkler head adapter. When the sprinkler head is removed or unscrewed from the sprinkler head adapter, a valve contained within the sprinkler head adapter automatically closes. In a preferred embodiment, the valve comprises a valve sealing member connected to a sprinkler head sensing member and a biasing member for biasing the valve sealing member to a closed position. The sprinkler head sensing member holds the valve sealing member in the open condition when the sprinkler head is sensed by the sprinkler head sensing member to be in the adapter. The biasing member may be a coil spring.
