  • Patent number: 10725237
Abstract: Coated optical fibers and uses of such fibers as sensors in high temperature and/or high pressure environments. The coated optical fiber has improved sensing properties at elevated pressure and/or temperature, such as enhanced acoustic sensitivity and/or a reduced loss in acoustic sensitivity. The use of the coated optical fibers in various sensing applications that require operation under elevated pressure and/or temperature, such as, acoustic sensors for various geological, security, military, aerospace, marine, and oil and gas applications are also provided.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 21, 2019
Date of Patent: July 28, 2020
    Assignee: Sonoro, LLC
Inventors: Michael Racosky, William Briggs, Fred Demetz, John Hull, Seyed Ehsan Jalilian

  • Patent number: 7840105
Abstract: A fiber optic towed array is provided. The array includes a flexible core upon which is disposed a semi-rigid mandrel. The semi-rigid mandrel has a helical groove formed therein, in which is disposed an optical fiber, the optical fiber including a plurality of fiber gratings. The mandrel is in turn covered with a nylon or fiber screen and encased in a layer of open cell foam, which is encased in a protective covering that includes at least one strength member disposed along a longitudinal axis of the array.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 11, 2006
Date of Patent: November 23, 2010
    Assignee: Sabeus, Inc.
Inventors: Eric Lee Goldner, Fred Demetz
