Publication number: 20230182969Abstract: A container for the shipment and display of a food product includes a four-sided, collapsible, corrugated plastic sleeve that is selectively enclosed by a pair of opposing plastic trays. Each tray includes inner and outer flanges which are formed along the periphery of a planar plate in a spaced apart relationship and together define a continuous groove dimensioned to receive an open end of the sleeve. The inner flange includes a tapered interior surface which widens the groove towards its distal end to facilitate the process of aligning and inserting an open end of the sleeve therein. A series of projections, each semicircular in lateral cross-section, are formed onto the outer flange and are dimensioned to fittingly protrude through corresponding slots formed in the sleeve to retain the container in its assembled state during the process of packaging and transporting the designated product.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2022Publication date: June 15, 2023Inventor: Fred Dowd

Publication number: 20230138933Abstract: A cable reel for retaining a continuous length of cable is preferably constructed using an inexpensive plastic material, such as corrugated plastic. In one embodiment, the cable reel includes a hollow tubular core with a set of outward radial tabs integrally formed at each of its ends. A single, disc-shaped, interior support flange is mounted within the interior of the core in circumferential contact therewith to provide structural rigidity. Additionally, on each end of the core, an annular inner flange and a disc-shaped outer flange are disposed in coaxial alignment with one another against opposing surfaces of its corresponding set of radial tabs and are fixedly secured together as part of the assembly process. The multi-flange construction enables the thickness, diameter and/or material properties of the ends of the cable reel to be adjusted, as needed, to accommodate the strength and dimensional requirements of the intended application.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 3, 2022Publication date: May 4, 2023Inventors: Fred Dowd, Roger L. Cleveland, JR., Jack David Hartman

Publication number: 20200102142Abstract: A container for the shipment and display of a product includes a four-sided, corrugated sleeve that is selectively enclosed by a pair of opposing plastic trays. The inner surface of each tray includes an outer flange and an inner flange which together define a continuous peripheral groove which is dimensioned to fittingly receive either the open top end or the open bottom end of the sleeve during the assembly process. The continuous nature and depth of the peripheral groove simplifies the orientation of components during assembly and additionally minimizes the risk of any considerable bulging of the sleeve upon the loading of product therewithin. In its assembled state, the container adequately protects the product during shipment while maintaining adequate ventilation. Upon completion of shipment, the top tray and sleeve can be removed, leaving the product displayed on the bottom tray at the point-of-sale without any direct handling required.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 25, 2019Publication date: April 2, 2020Inventors: Fred Dowd, Jeffrey Alan Senkler

Patent number: 9878818Abstract: A tamper resistant box includes: a front panel; a side panel attached to the front panel at a first fold line; a back panel attached to the side panel at a second fold line; a side top flap attached to the side panel at a third fold line; and a front top flap attached to the front panel at a fourth fold line. In some examples, the side top flap can define a tapered slot extending towards the third fold line from an edge of the side top flap at a location distal from the third fold line, and a widest portion of the tapered slot can define a tapered slot width. In further examples, the front top flap can define a top slot having a top slot width that is less than the tapered slot width.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2016Date of Patent: January 30, 2018Assignee: Iron Mountain IncorporatedInventors: Rene Grajales, Fred Dowd, Sandy Freeman

Publication number: 20120305635Abstract: A pre-folded file bottom box form (80) created from a unitary blank (10) of corrugated material that is die cut and creased so as to form a series of panels and flaps arranged in three rows (A, B and C) of four panels or flaps each that define four columns (D, E, F and G). The blank (10) includes a first row (A) with four panels (32, 34, 36 and 38) that end up in the box as reinforcing sidewall and end wall panels, a middle row (B) contiguous with the first row (A) and having four panels (20, 24, 28 and 40) that end up in the box as sidewall and end wall panels, and a third row (C) coupled to the second row (B) and including first (16) and second (18) panels and two flaps (12, 14), the first (16) and second (18) panels making up the bottom of the box and the two flaps (12, 14) contiguous with the first third-row panel (16) and making up portions of the two end-walls. Publication number: 20110101081Abstract: A pre-folded file bottom box form, a method of creating the box form, and a box created from the form. The box form is created from a unitary blank of corrugated material that is die cut and creased so as to form a series of interconnected panels arranged in three rows that each include four panels. A first row has four panels that each end up in the box as a reinforcing end wall or sidewall panel; each of these panels are separated by a narrow gap. A middle row includes four panels that each end up in the box as a box end wall or sidewall panel; each of these panels is contiguous with one panel of the second row. There is a crease located between each of the middle row panels, and between each of them and the first row panel that is contiguous with it. A third row, coupled to the second row, includes first and second bottom panels and two end-wall reinforcing panels. The first and second bottom panels are each contiguous with one of the panels of the second row with a crease located between them.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 28, 2010Publication date: May 5, 2011Applicant: Technology Container CorporationInventors: Fred Dowd, Keith B. Patent number: 6705515Abstract: A corrugated plastic box is disclosed. The box is provided with an L-shaped or chair-shaped end panel which can be adhesively secured to a box side panel. The end panel has a lower portion which extends over a relatively great number of box side corrugations, and an upper panel portion which extends over fewer box side corrugations, so as to spread interior box loads across a number of corrugations and inhibit box side bowing. The box sides are also strengthened by providing upper panels which are rolled over along the top edges of the box, the panels are then food or otherwise fastened to the side panels. The rolled-over top edges thus formed strengthen the box, and prevent the entry of contaminants into the otherwise-exposed side panel corrugation flutes. The box is provided with a number of specially shaped box bottom panels which enable the box to be quickly and easily erected by even inexperienced personnel.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2002Date of Patent: March 16, 2004Assignee: Technology Container Corp.Inventor: Fred Dowd
