  • Patent number: 6062710
Abstract: This invention is a light fixture concept using geometrical optical elements and optical diffusors which produce a controlled light beam from a large lighting aperture. The object of this invention is to provide for both low surface luminance of the light fixture aperture and directional control of the light distribution. The geometrical optical elements are placed so as to result in a magnification of the light source, and diffusor elements are used to shape the light beam. A wide range of light sources can be used with this concept. The resulting light fixture will have reduced glare characteristics due both to the decreased luminance of the fixture aperture and to the restricted lighting angle distribution. These light fixtures should find application in a large number of lighting situations.

  • Patent number: 5090907
Abstract: A dental curette or scaler having a finger pad including a generally concave finger surface proximate a working head and complementary contoured to the shape of an extended middle finger urged thereupon. The finger pad is selectively rotatable about and removable from a tapered end closely proximate the working head of the instrument. The finger pad is comprised of a resilient material to adapt to individual finger variations and is textured to provide a comfortable feel and a friction grip to the dental hygienist or dentist. The finger pad is restricted from lateral sliding along a longitudinal axis of the instrument and, further, is sterilizable prior to use. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the finger pad has a plurality of finger surfaces for receiving a finger in more than one position.

  • Patent number: 4559445
Abstract: A novel optical transmitter/receiver device is described which comprises a source of radiation providing a collimated coherent light beam, such as a laser beam, along a first optical axis; a magneto-optic light deflector device controllably deflecting the beam off the first optical axis in the direction of a target; optical beam expander and collimating lenses transmitting the expanded beam toward the target and receiving the expanded and reflected beam from the target; the reflected beam then being deflected back along the first optical axis to a scraper mirror which optically turns the reflected beam along a viewing axis toward a photo detector.
