  • Patent number: 6381007
Abstract: The photosensitive device implements charge coupling and accumulation for analyzing a light signal. A sensor has an image zone M rows and N columns of photosensitive sites for receiving a light signal during successive acquisition periods, a transfer zone of P rows and N columns of non-photosensitive sites for receiving, in each site of a first row, the sum of the charges in a respective column of the image zone at the end of each successive sampling period. It also has a storage zone of P rows an N columns in which each column is adjacent to a respective column of the transfer zone and each site is arranged to receive charges contained in an adjacent site of the transfer zone and to accumulate it. The sensor is clocked for a sequence.

  • Patent number: 6271269
Abstract: Storage-stable sols are comprised of a colloidal dispersion of at least one compound of an acidic metal cation, Mn+, for example, cerium (IV) and/or iron (III), in an organic phase which comprises an organic liquid medium and an organic acid. The title sols are conveniently prepared via the phase transfer of colloidal particulates from a counterpart aqueous colloidal dispersion.

  • Patent number: 6084659
Abstract: The CCD device is suitable for use in a lidar. It has an image zone constituted by a matrix of M lines and N columns of photosensitive sites for receiving a light signal and generating charges, a first memory zone constituted by a matrix of P lines and N columns of non-photosensitive sites, a read-out register having a single line of N sites, and a second memory zone having P lines of N sites, apt to receive in parallel charges contained in the N sites of the read-out register. The first memory zone has a first line of sites apt to receive and to sum charges generated in a respective column of the image zone at the end of each of successive acquisition periods. The second memory zone stores and transfers charges to N sites of a same line of the image zone or the first memory zone whereby accumulating, in each line of the first memory zone, charges accumulated during an observation period and resulting from a plurality of successive summations.

  • Patent number: 4976939
Abstract: Rare earth hydroxides are recovered from the rare earth ores, e.g., monazite, xenotime and/or bastnasite, by treating the ore with an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide, under agitation and essentially constant pressure, at a temperature of from about 100.degree. to 220.degree. C., and wherein the ratio by weight of alkali metal hydroxide/ore ranges from about 1.4 to 0.5, e.g., a weight ratio of sodium hydroxide/ore of from about 1 to 0.5, or a weight ratio of potassium hydroxide/ore of from about 1.4 to 0.7.

  • Patent number: 4954293
Abstract: Thorium and rare earth values are separated from a fluoride concentrate thereof, by decomposing such concentrate with aqueous sodium hydroxide under conditions such that the amount of sodium hydroxide is at least 1.4 times the stoichiometric amount and the initial sodium hydroxide/water ratio in the medium of decomposition ranges from 1 to 40% by weight, whereby a precipitate of thorium hydroxide and rare earth hydroxides is produced, together with a solution of sodium fluoride, and then separating the NaF solution therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4758412
Abstract: The rare earth hydroxides are improvedly prepared by (i) treating a rare earth phosphate mineral, e.g., monazite or xenotime, with an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide, (ii) separating therefrom rare earth hydroxide solids and a liquid phase essentially consisting of alkali metal phosphate and alkali metal hydroxide, (iii) crystallizing alkali metal phosphate from said liquid phase, (iv) separating the mother liquor of crystallization therefrom which contains said alkali metal hydroxide, (v) adding calcium oxide or hydroxide to the mother liquor thus separated to form a precipitate therein, (vi) separating said formed precipitate, and (vii) recycling the mother liquor of separation to said treatment step (i).
