  • Patent number: 5875806
Abstract: A fluid metering system comprises a source of pressurized fluid, a proportional metering valve and a delta-p regulator, which maintains a constant pressure drop across the proportional metering valve. The delta-p regulator is referenced to the static pressure upstream of the metering valve and the stagnation pressure downstream of the metering valve. By referencing the stagnation pressure downstream of the metering valve, the effective static pressure across the metering valve increases as a function of fluid flow rate and therefore provides an increased flow range and corresponding turndown ratio for any given proportional metering valve.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 22, 1997
Date of Patent: March 2, 1999
    Assignee: AlliedSignal Inc.
    Inventor: Frederick C. Maynard
  • Patent number: 5472329
Abstract: A gerotor pump having reduced drag torque at low temperatures is disclosed. The pump includes a shaft journalled in the housing. Mounted on the shaft are a pair of axially space metallic port plates and disposed therebetween are metallic interior and exterior gears. A ceramic eccentric ring circumscribes the exterior gear to define a diametral clearance.

  • Patent number: 4747262
Abstract: In a gas turbine engine compressor power unit fuel is supplied at an essentially constant pressure to a fuel nozzle for injection into the combustion liner of the power unit's combustor. Nozzle fuel flow is modulated solely by bleeding off combustor supply air to vary the internal liner pressure, thereby altering the fuel pressure drop across the nozzle.
