  • Patent number: 4453607
Abstract: The base of a weigh scale includes openings in the bottom thereof at each corner. The base is raised above a supporting surface by way of rigid foot members aligned with the openings in the corners of the base. Load cells in the form of deflection beams each having one of their ends fixed to the base while their other end contacts upper surfaces of their respective foot members. Damage to the load cells by side shock loads is eliminated by way of resilient coupling members connected between the foot members and the base.

  • Patent number: 4338825
Abstract: Theload cell herein disclosed is designed for precise measurement of forces along or parallel to a single axis, while being substantially immune to forces applied along the other mutually perpendicular axes as well as moments applied about any of the three mutually perpendicular axes. Rigid force input and force output members are resiliently interconnected by a pair of parallel flexure beams which establish with such members a parallelogram type of linkage which is relatively yieldable to forces parallel to the selected measurement axis while being relatively stiff and unyieldable to forces parallel to the other two axes and to moments about any of the three axes. A strain gage-equipped sensing beam is mounted within the plane of the parallelogram linkage and between the two flexure beams. One end of the sensing beam is rigidly connected to the fixed force output member, while the other end is free to flex in cantilevered fashion responsive to displacement of the force input member.

  • Patent number: 4103545
Abstract: A flexure-based transducer especially adapted for very precise measurement of small forces in either direction along or parallel to a single axis, without being adversely affected by forces applied in any other direction or by moments applied about any axis. The transducer is capable of withstanding very high overloading, without damage, by the provision of two resilient portions mounted in parallel to each other but in series between the gaged portion and a fixed support, plus an overload pin on the gaged portion which bottoms after a pre-determined travel.
