  • Patent number: 4478454
Abstract: A body weight chair control in which the chair back and chair seat may be adjusted independently of each other. The chair occupant's body weight is the source of energy in moving both the back and seat. The chair control includes a front link and a rear link, each pivotally mounted on a base link. An intermediate link is pivotally mounted on the rear link, and a seat link is mounted on and between the intermediate link and the front link. A releasable locking mechanism is provided to lock two non-connected links in fixed relation, whereby all five links are locked in fixed relation.

  • Patent number: 4390206
Abstract: The specification discloses a synchrotilt chair control in which a slide is provided between the front of the seat support and stationary control housing, which slide serves not only to make possible synchrotilt action between the back support and seat support, but also makes possible the incorporation of a seat adjustment assembly. The latter comprises a pivot bracket pivotally mounted on the slide and on the seat support, and an actuator for pivoting the pivot bracket. The pivotal mounting between the seat support and back support is also dual functional in that it supports a pivotally mounted lock plate for locking the control. A height adjustment actuator and hidden handle pretension adjustment bolt are also provided.

  • Patent number: 4314728
Abstract: The specification discloses a synchrotilt chair control in which a heavily loaded toggel linkage or slide arrangement between the rear of the seat support member and the chair back support member is eliminated by providing a slide and track arrangement between the front of the chair seat support and the front of the stationary housing. The front location is relatively lightly loaded as compared to the rear of a chair to which the control is mounted.

  • Patent number: 4018102
Abstract: A movement device including a rigid inner supporting rod-like member of a closed circuit configuration and a flexible, closed sleeve slidably mounted on the rod-like support member. In one application of the invention, a drawer or the like can be moved relative to a case or the like by securing the drawer to the sleeve and securing the case to the sleeve at points on opposite sides of a point at which the rod-like support member changes direction. In another application, the device is used as a tilting mechanism for chairs by securing the chair body to the sleeve and securing the chair base to the sleeve at points opposite a point at which the rod-like member changes direction. The chair base can be eliminated by setting the rigid rod-like member directly on the floor. The device also provides a rotatable base for a stool.
