  • Patent number: 6200068
Abstract: A apparatus and method of using the apparatus for removing a blockage in a subsea pipeline without retrieval of the pipeline to the surface. The apparatus components include a hot tap saddle, a drill assembly, a fluid blaster assembly and a support frame. The hot tap saddle component has a first portion and a second portion, with the first and second portions being configured to clampingly engage in a sealing relationship to the subsea pipeline. The first portion of the saddle includes a first and second opening with the first opening extending generally upwardly and configured for connecting to a drill assembly and the second opening being positioned generally at an angle to the first opening and configured for connecting to a fluid blaster assembly. The fluid blaster assembly including a nozzle, a hose and a high pressure pump with the fluid blaster assembly being contained within a pressure vessel. The fluid blaster assembly is configured for mounting to the second opening of the hot tap saddle component.

  • Patent number: 4397357
Abstract: A production riser assembly for producing oil to a floating platform includes a central riser (22) and a plurality of production risers (34) annularly spaced around the central riser. The central riser has a flexible joint (26) with a hydraulic connector (82) therebelow. Each production riser has a flexible hose (47) at its lower end which is connectable to flowline subs (46) located in spaced relation from the central riser connector. Hydraulically operated connectors (45) are located at the bottom end of each flexible pipe, and each riser is independently tensioned.

  • Patent number: 4182584
Abstract: A free-standing, marine production riser and a method of installing same for use in deep-water areas to conduct fluids between the marine bottom and the surface. The riser system is comprised of a lower rigid section and an upper flexible section. The lower rigid section has a casing extending from a preset base on the marine bottom to a point just below the zone of turbulence which exists near the surface of the water. A variable-buoyant buoy having a curved upper surface and a central passage therethrough is mounted on the upper end of the casing to support the casing in a substantially vertical position when the casing is in position on the preset base. A remotely actuated connector assembly is provided on the lower end of the casing for connecting the casing to the preset base. A plurality of conduits are run through the passage in the buoy and through guide means in the casing and are remotely connected to mating conduits on the base.
