    Abstract: In a method of recognizing a control command in a system, in which a message from a user of the system is presented to the system in the form of speech and is recorded on a record carrier (11) by the system, and in which the control commands are presented to the system in the form of spoken commands, the speech is detected by a speech detector (15) during recording of the message. If no speech is detected for a specific time interval (T), recording is discontinued and a speech command recognizer (14) is rendered operative to recognize a control command to be presented to the system by the user.
