  • Patent number: 6523774
Abstract: A method and apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn, wherein the yarn is wound on a driven tube to a cross wound package. The yarn is reciprocated by means of a traversing yarn guide within a traverse stroke which is variable in its length within the package width of the cross wound package. During the winding cycle, the traverse stroke is varied between a maximum length at the beginning of the winding cycle and an end length at the end of the winding cycle by a predetermined stroke function in such a manner that in the course of the winding cycle, a certain length is associated to each traverse stroke, with the lengths of the traverse strokes being smaller than the respective wound package widths then being formed.

  • Patent number: 6430912
Abstract: A yarn false twist texturing apparatus having a plurality of side by side processing stations for texturing a plurality of thermoplastic yarns, wherein at each station a first feed system withdraws the yarn from a feed yarn package, and advances the yarn to a false twist zone composed of a heater and a cooling device, as well as a twisting unit. A second feed system withdraws the yarn from the false twist zone and advances it to a takeup device. The cooling device includes a cooling tube, with the yarn spiraling in contact with its outer surface. For an intensive cooling of the yarn according to the invention, the cooling tube is cooled from the inside with a coolant flow, which flows in a direction opposite to the direction of the advancing yarn.

  • Patent number: 6405966
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for traversing a yarn, wherein a traversing yarn guide is moved by means of an electric motor. The actual position of the yarn guide is continuously determined by means of a measuring device and supplied to a control device, which performs a comparison between the actual and desired positions of the traversing yarn guide, and the control device generates a corresponding differential signal for controlling the operation of the electric motor.

  • Patent number: 6186435
Abstract: A method and apparatus for winding a continuously advancing yarn, wherein the yarn is wound into a package that is formed on a rotating tubular core, the yarn being traversed by a yarn guide within a traverse stroke. At the beginning of each traverse stroke, the yarn guide is accelerated within a reversal length to a guiding speed, and after traversing the traverse length it is decelerated within a second reversal length. The yarn traversing mechanism includes a belt drive system for reciprocating the yarn guide and which is controlled by a programmable control device such that the yarn guide is moved within a traverse stroke which is axially shorter than the package length and which is reciprocated between the ends of the package without changing the length of the traverse stroke.

At the beginning of each traverse stroke, the yarn guide is accelerated within a reversal length to a guiding speed, and after traversing the traverse length it is decelerated within a second reversal length. The acceleration and/or deceleration of the yarn guide are controllable, so as to modify the yarn deposit in the package edges.

  • Patent number: 4913363
Abstract: A method for winding a textile yarn into a package is disclosed, and which is characterized by the ability to produce relatively large packages which are adapted to permit a high speed unwinding by withdrawal of the yarn over one end of the package. The method involves controlling the yarn traverse guide so as to include stroke modification cycles durin which the traverse stroke is progressively increased in length and then decreased, and such that a plot of the location of the stroke end points vs. time defines a parabola-like, arcuate curve. The exact shape of the curve is designed so as to produce a cylindrical wind in the end area, which is slightly greater in diameter than the diameter of the medial portion of the package.

  • Patent number: 4659027
Abstract: A method and apparatus for winding textile yarns into core supported packages is disclosed, and which is characterized by the ability to produce relatively large packages which are adapted to permit a high speed unwinding by withdrawal of the yarn over one end of the package. The method and apparatus involves controlling the yarn traverse guide so as to include stroke modification cycles during which the traverse stroke is progressively contracted and then increased, with the stroke modification cycles being designed to produce a precisely cylindrical package end with a uniform distribution of hardness along the package. In one illustrated embodiment, a number of stroke modification cycles having a relatively large contraction alternate with a number of stroke modification cycles having a relatively small contraction.
