  • Patent number: 6149098
Abstract: Process and device to spool longitudinally cut partial sheets from a material sheet having a sheet width. The process may include forming a spooling roll from each partial sheet such that the formed spooling rolls rest on at least two spooling beds including individually motorized spooling-support rolls. During at least a beginning of the spooling process, the process also may include pressing at least one of the spooling rolls being formed against its respective spooling bed with a loading roll, positioning the at least one spooling roll with the loading roll in a middle portion of sheet width, and motorizing the loading roll independently of the support rolls to initiate an adjustable portion of a turning moment exerted onto the at least one spooling roll.

  • Patent number: 5114062
Abstract: A roll for guidance of web type material, such as paper or cardboard, has a shell that features a multitude of bores. The roll is coordinated with a device for subjecting the roll interior to suction. To hold the web on the roll at standstill, part of these bores can be subjected to suction. In the operation of the roll, air trapped between the web and the roll shell can enter the roll also through the remaining bores and escape in the roll area that is not looped by the web.

  • Patent number: 4893762
Abstract: The winding machine is provided with a drum, across which a web to be wound is guided, with a lowering table for taking up an ejection of a winding roll from the machine and with a device for severing the winding roll from the web. The severing device is embedded along the drum-near edge area of a plate of the lowering table supporting the winding roll. To move the severing device between a rest position and an operating position in which it moves out of the lowering table, an actuating device is provided.

  • Patent number: 4618105
Abstract: A double support roller winding machine for winding material webs onto core tubes with different diameters includes an attaching and severing device mounted so that it can be swung from above down into the roller bed where a new core tube has been inserted to engage the new core tube at its apex, to attach the web to the new core tube and to sever the fully wound roll which has been ejected from the roller bed from the attached web start.

  • Patent number: 4576343
Abstract: In a double supporting roller winding machine for winding material webs, especially paper or board webs, onto core tubes, a core tube insertion device is provided for inserting individual ones of the core tubes in a roller bed. The core tube insertion device is mounted on pivot levers, and has an insertion trough with an angular cross-section for the core tubes. The insertion trough is mounted pivotally on the levers and can be moved into a position in which one of the trough sides extends at least approximately horizontally. Thus, this one side can be used advantageously as a step from which to work and to enable the roller bed to be reached more easily.

  • Patent number: 4428543
Abstract: The disclosure concerns both an apparatus and a method for replacing a finished web roll with an empty core and roll support in a double-drum type web winder. The web winder has a winding station at which a pair of drums wind a web on a roll support carried on an extractable core. The finished roll is moved across a transfer table to an extraction table at which the core is removed laterally. At the extraction station, the removed core is reinserted in a new web roll support. The core and new web roll support are pivoted up to an upraised waiting position. A newly finished roll at the winding station is moved toward the extraction station. The new web support and the core within it are moved above the just-finished roll and are delivered to the winding station for winding the next web roll on the core and new roll support.

  • Patent number: 4390138
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for reeling a web, for instance a web of paper, on a winding shaft over which core tubes are fitted. A lifting device engages the completed roll only at the periphery thereof and lifts it to an extraction position, where an extraction device extracts the winding shaft. The same lifting device moves a new core tube to the extraction station, where the winding shaft is inserted in the core tube. The combination of winding shaft and the new core tube is then lifted, either by the same lifting device or by a separate lifting mechanism, to a return roller path along which the shaft rolls, and at the end of which the shaft is received by an additional lifting device. The additional lifting device lowers the shaft, delivering it to the jaws of a pivotable reel swing member, which pivots to bring the winding shaft with the new core tube into the position at the application station for winding a new roll therein.

  • Patent number: 4345722
Abstract: A double-drum winder including means for changing winding cores is disclosed. Two support drums are separated by a first gap, through which a web is fed from below. A roll, comprising a winding core and part of the web wrapped around it, rests on both drums. The web follows the surface of the first drum through the first gap, to the point of contact between the first drum and the roll. At least one drum is driven, wrapping the web onto the roll. When the roll is complete, it is lifted and simultaneously moved toward the second drum, opening a second gap between the roll and the first drum. A holding device, which is preferably rotated into position about the second drum through the first gap, holds the web against the first drum. A severing device severs the web. The severing device preferably is rotated about the first drum through the second gap to effect the severing.

  • Patent number: 4157794
Abstract: A rolling device for rolling up a sheet onto roll formers or spools: a roll former is inserted between and supported on two supporting rollers and a sheet is wound on it; the finished wound roll on its roll former is lifted off one of the supporting rollers looping the sheet, and the slack loop section is stapled to the next roll former; the sheet is cut off at the new roll former.
