Abstract: A method of generating a sampling signal succesion for use in a control system utilizing pulse-length modulated control signals, especially for controlling the tension or position of a continuously advancing web, such as in rotary printing machines, includes sampling and storing an error signal after a time interval having a duration approximately equal to an equalization time of the controlled system and commencing with the termination of a preceding adjustment step while the control system is out of operation, generating a binary signal of a length in time which is proportional to the error signal, sampling and storing a sum of the error signal and a deviation error signal during an additional time interval considerably shorter than the time constant of the controlled system, and extending the binary signal proportionally to the deviation control signal.

A lever having one end rigidly connected to the twistable supporting pin has its other end positioned between a light transmitter and a light detector of an optoelectronic sensor which detects the amount of twisting of the supporting pin.

Abstract: An ear piece for a sound producing device such as a headset comprises an annular ear cushion with at least one part of an elastic, soft, sound permeable foam and at least one other part of a sound permeable layer which is thin in relation to the overall thickness of the air cushion and has a defined acoustic impedance for low and medium frequencies of the audibility range. The ear cushion acts as a frictional resistance with a central portion defining coupling space from the sound producing device to the ear and representing an acoustic connection through the sound producing device to the air.

Abstract: A spreader roll for webs of textile material has a flexible shaft whose end portions rotate in or with pairs of bearings installed in sleeves which are pivotable about horizontal axes to thereby change the curvature of the shaft and/or slidable with respect to stationary holders to thereby effect or change lateral deflection of the shaft. The shaft is surrounded by and fixed to annular supporting elements which are surrounded by an elastic hose whose ends are sealed against entry of atmospheric air.

Abstract: A gas-insulated, high-voltage apparatus wherein arcs can develop includes an encapsulation and at least one electrical conductor made of aluminum or an alloy thereof which is held in spaced relation to the encapsulation by insulators. A surface is arranged at the conductor at locations thereof subject to the greatest arc activity. The surface faces the encapsulation and is defined by an electrically conductive, arc-resistant material. An excessive stress and endangerment of the encapsulation because of arc action is thereby prevented.
