Friedrich W. Herfeld has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 4930897
Abstract: The invention relates to a mixer in which at least one end wall and at least one part of the peripheral wall can be moved relative to one another in such a way that the interior of the mixing vessel is freely accessible from the periphery. Such a mixer is distinguished by a very good cleaning facility.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 2, 1988
Date of Patent: June 5, 1990
Inventors: Friedrich W. Herfeld, deceased, Ute Herfeld, heir
  • Patent number: 4918665
Abstract: The invention relates to mixing apparatus in which the drive motor and the stirrers are each coupled to the three revolving elements of a planetary gear. In such apparatus the speed of the two stirrers is automatically adapted to the prevailing counter-moment.

  • Patent number: 4781468
Abstract: The invention relates to mixing apparatus with a mixing vessel consisting of two vessel parts of which the first vessel part is constructed so as to be transportable and the second vessel part bears a rotatable mixing tool the hub of which is releasably coupled to the drive shaft (11) of a drive motor. The first vessel part is covered by the second vessel part even in its transport state. This mixing apparatus permits a rapid change of product while avoiding cleaning work on the second vessel part and the mixing tool.

  • Patent number: 4671666
Abstract: The invention relates to a mixer having a mixing vessel composed of two vessel parts and which can be pivoted through 180.degree. about a horizontal axis. The stirrer shaft is coaxial with the axis about which the vessel is pivoted and the drive motor of the stirrer is stationary. Such a mixer is distinguished by a simple and light transport facility for the product to be mixed, the use of the same mixer for different products, simple cleaning of the second vessel part, and a good mixing effect.

  • Patent number: 4372686
Abstract: A rotating mixer with a double-cone mixing vessel carried by a horizontal mixer spindle, the mixing vessel consisting of two identical half-vessels which are releasably clamped to a central spindle ring. The opening of the spindle is closable by means of a pivotable shutoff clappet, when the charged half-vessels are attached or released using a dolly and lifting jack. Separate pairs of half-vessels can be used for mixing charges of different composition.

  • Patent number: 4325515
Abstract: The mixing apparatus has a crushing chamber which can be continuously charged with material and a circulating chamber being in communication with the crushing chamber by way of a port. The port can be shut. The continuously charged material can be pre-condensed in the crushing chamber and be condensed and cooled in the circulating chamber. In this case the port is shut during the cooling process. Also, complete condensation can take place in the crushing chamber with the port being shut. In that case, the material is fed batch-wise into the circulating chamber for cooling.

  • Patent number: 4159880
Abstract: A supply chamber has an outlet for gravity feed of materials to be mixed to a mixing chamber in which a rotary mixing device is mounted. A conveying system continuously returns mixed materials from the mixing chamber to the supply chamber for recirculation and further blending. The conveying system may be in the form of a screw conveyor or an air stream that aspirates material from the mixing chamber.

  • Patent number: 4002325
Abstract: The mixing apparatus comprises an ascending pipe within a mixing container narrowing downwards like a funnel as well as an air supply pipe, concentrically provided within the ascending pipe. The ascending pipe ends in the suction space of a radial fan arranged in the lower range of the mixing container. Blast openings of the annular pressure space of the radial fan are directed to the inlet openings of the ascending pipe. The radial fan produces intensive air flow within the ascending pipe which air flow entrains the particles of the materials to be mixed.
