    Abstract: A safety system in a motor vehicle is disposed in an engine compartment closable by means of a flap member. In order to increase the passive safety of the motor vehicle, containers filled with an extinguishing medium are disposed on an inner side of the engine compartment and, in the event of a limit temperature being exceeded, release the extinguishing medium.
