  • Publication number: 20030127506
Abstract: A mailbox for decontaminating a mail parcel and the contents of the parcel. The mailbox comprises ultra-violet lamps operative to produce UV-C radiation and collateral ozone. The radiation destroys pathogens on the surface of the parcel and air circulating within the mailbox, as for instance driven by a fan in the mailbox, allows the ozone to penetrate the parcel envelope to contact the contents and destroy pathogens on the contents.

  • Patent number: 6092415
Abstract: In a method for monitoring tire air pressure of the wheels of an automobile, longitudinal force of the tires-slip test data pairs are measured and recorded for at least one wheel, while the automobile is being driven. A corresponding evaluation unit determines a compensation curve for the recorded longitudinal force of the tires-slip test data pairs, along with an associated offset value based on a zero point in a longitudinal force of the tires-slip performance graph. From the offset value, the respective wheel radius relationship between at least one driven and one non-driven wheel can be calculated, and from this the relative tire pressure of the wheels can be determined.

  • Patent number: 6060984
Abstract: A system for monitoring the vehicle tire inflation pressure has a device for detecting the vertical acceleration of the tire or of a vehicle component connected therewith and the longitudinal speed of the vehicle, as well as having an analyzing unit which determines the tire inflation pressure from the measured vertical acceleration data and the measured vehicle longitudinal speed data. The analyzing unit contains a trainable estimating unit, particularly a neuronal network, which is trained by predeterminable training example data with different tire inflation pressure values and vehicle longitudinal speed values. In the trained condition, the estimating unit determines the tire inflation pressure at least as a function of the measured vertical acceleration and vehicle longitudinal speed data fed directly or preprocessed on an input side thereof. The system provides continuous tire inflation pressure monitoring in the case of road vehicles.

  • Patent number: 5832194
Abstract: An electronic apparatus, process for its duplication, and arrangement for data transfer between two similarly constructed electronic apparatus is described in which the electronic apparatus has a microprocessor or microcontroller, a non-volatile memory, and an interface. The microprocessor or microcontroller, the non-volatile memory and other measures of the apparatus allow a data content of a certain memory component of a certain other apparatus to be simply transferred into the non-volatile memory. The apparatus thus has the ability to bequeath its data characteristics, or to duplicate itself. Further, a process is described for carrying out such a duplication. Assuming a second inventive electronic apparatus is built, a particular advantageous arrangement can be created in which a data record can be completely transferred from the memory of the first apparatus into the memory of the second apparatus. This data transfer is even beneficially possible when the second apparatus is partially defective.

  • Patent number: 5592395
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining and extending a change interval for an operating fluid of a unit, particularly for an engine of a motor vehicle, uses at least one directly or indirectly recorded operating variable which represents the qualitative condition of the operating fluid. An evaluation of the at least operating variable and a continuous calculation of the change interval therefrom is performed by a computing and control unit. The calculated change interval is related to a specified unit service interval and, if the change interval expires before the service interval, a regeneration signal for the removal of a certain quantity of the spent operating fluid and the replacement of the quantity with a fresh operating fluid is produced as a function of the difference therebetween.

  • Patent number: 4462099
Abstract: A data transmission system comprising a plurality of terminal units each having at least one input and at least one output connected such that each connected input of a terminal unit is connected to a connected output of another terminal unit. Each terminal unit with at least two input connections comprises a changeover switch to provide for incoming signal induced connecting of one of the inputs to a receiver circuit for recognizing and receiving certain signals. A test circuit is connected to the receiver circuit for determining if the test signals received are free from errors. An error sum counter is connected to the test circuit and to the changeover switch. At least one of the terminal units comprises an emitting provision for test signals, which is connected to the outputs of the terminal unit to provide for checking of the functioning of the transmission system. For each missing or defective test signal train received an error message is fed to the error sum counter for increasing the count value.

  • Patent number: 4115981
Abstract: Apparatus for collating prints and related sections of developed photographic customer films in a processing laboratory has a first conveyor whose receptacles advance stepwise into register with discharge ends of feeding devices for film sections and prints, and a packing unit with a second conveyor which advances empty containers past an assembly station where the containers receive assemblies of film sections and related prints in response to forward strokes of a reciprocable pusher. The second conveyor advances successive loaded containers past a closing device and a labelling device and thereupon into a receiving device. A computer receives signals from the severing mechanisms of the two feeding devices and from a reader which decodes information on envelopes used by customers or dealers to deliver or send exposed customer films to the laboratory.
