    Abstract: The sun gear and the planet carrier of a planetary-gear train are connected with respective shafts, one of them driven and the other coupled with a load, while the ring gear is resiliently anchored to a surrounding housing so as to be rotatable with reference thereto in the event of an overload. Depending on the direction of relative rotation, a control member coupled with the ring gear actuates one of two switches or switch groups to generate an alarm signal or to take corrective action.
