Patent number: 6260986Abstract: The invention relates to an electric lamp, provided with a metal-plastic cap, for a motor vehicle headlight, which has a pressing-on spring (100) which is arranged laterally on the lamp cap and serves to mount the lamp in the reflector opening, constructed as lamp holder, of the headlight. The lamp cap has a metal holder part for the lamp bulb, a metal annular carrier sleeve (14b) connected thereto, and a plastic cap part (15) in which the carrier sleeve (14b) is anchored. According to the invention, the annular carrier sleeve (14b) has two inwardly angled lugs (14d) between which the pressing-on spring (100) is arranged with a clamping fit, and which are crossed with the ends (104a) of the pressing-on spring (100).Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 1999Date of Patent: July 17, 2001Assignee: Patent-Treuhand-Gesellschaft fuer elektrische Gluehlampen mbHInventors: Peter Helbig, Fritz Eckhardt

Patent number: 5270610Abstract: To connect a vitreous lamp bulb which has an essentially tubular extension 6) to a base lamp holding structure (2), the holding structure is formed with a cylindrical recess into which the tubular extension is fitted. The material of the lamp holding structure, or at least a portion adjacent the recess, is a high-temperature meltable plastic, and the extension portion is surrounded by a spiral spring or wire loops which, to attach the lamp to the base lamp holding structure, is subjected to a high-frequency electromagnetic field so that, by induction, the plastic surrounding the extension will melt, and embed the spiral or looped wires in the molten plastic while oozing towards the extension portion to securely grip the extension portion in the base lamp holding structure.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 1991Date of Patent: December 14, 1993Assignee: Patent-Treuhand-Gesellschaft fur elektrische Gluhlampen mbHInventors: Walter Schoenherr, Fritz Eckhardt

Patent number: 5229683Abstract: To facilitate manufacture, assembly, and save material, a halogen incandent lamp (1) is secured to a plastic base (6) by a carrier or attachment element (3) which is formed of a single unitary element in form of a collar or cuff (4) of essentially rectangular cross section, surrounding the pinch or press seal of the lamp. The cuff is formed with internally projecting spring elements (17) in the form of flaps or the like, which are formed with notches engaging ribs (19) or similar suitable projections formed on the pinch seal of the lamp. First and second side walls of the essentially rectangular, in cross section, cuff or collar portions overlap, and the side walls are connected together by interengaging projections and slits, bent over at the corner of the rectangular cuff or collar portion.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 1991Date of Patent: July 20, 1993Assignee: Patent-Treuhand-Gesellschaft fur elektrische Gluhlampen m.b.H.Inventors: Fritz Eckhardt, Peter Helbig

Patent number: 5010272Abstract: To provide a compact structure in which a base core (17, 48) can be fitted nto a metallic base sleeve (9, 40) to which a holding structure (4, 7, 34) of a halogen incandescent lamp can be attached, the base core or the sleeve are formed with interengaging rim - engagement surfaces, and the base sleeve, further, is formed with projecting tabs which engage over or into the base core, through slits and recesses formed therein, to hold the base core in position; the base sleeve is additionally formed with a positioning or locating ring or plate (10, 44) so that the lamp holding structure (4, 7, 34) can be welded to the base sleeve to accurately position the filament of the lamp with respect to the locating plate or ring so that the filament can be located with respect to the focal point of a reflector, the tabs permitting compensation for tolerances in the base core, which may be substantial when made of ceramic material.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 1990Date of Patent: April 23, 1991Assignee: Patent Treuhand Gesellschaft fur elektrische Gluhlampen mbHInventors: Fritz Eckhardt, Peter Helbig, Walter Schoenherr

Patent number: 4795939Abstract: To permit connection of a high temperature resistant plastic material forg a bulb holder element (4, 15, 20) to which a light bulb (1, 14, 19) is attached in the tubular opening of the base structure (5, 16), the bulb holder element is essentially barrel-shaped to permit alignment of the bulb with respect to the base structure, and subsequent connection by welding together the plastic base structure with the plastic bulb holder element by exposure to a high-frequency field. To cause melting of the plastic, ferromagnetic material, typically a nickel-iron alloy, is located between the bulb holder element and the base structure, for example in form of a ring (11) snapped into a groove (12) formed on the holder element.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1987Date of Patent: January 3, 1989Assignee: Patent Treuhand Gesellschaft fur elektrische Gluhlampen GmbHInventors: Fritz Eckhardt, Peter Helbig, Walter Schonherr

Patent number: 4609977Abstract: To provide an easily made electrical connection between current leads (3, ) extending from a halogen incandescent lamp (1, 21) through a base cup (7, 27) and connecting blades (10, 30), an attachment element (12, 32) is formed with a wall portion (12a, 32a) which, together with the bottom wall (7a) of the base cup defines a chamber, in which chamber the electrical connections between the terminal prongs (10, 30) and the current supply leads (3, 23) are formed. Openings (8) through which the current supply leads extend are sealed, for example by melting down plastic material of which the base cup (7, 27) is formed, or by pouring a resin, for example a silicone rubber resin, in the chamber (13, 33) after having made the connection, to fill the openings, seal the openings, and coat the electrical connections which, typically, are made by welding. The chamber can be entirely filled with resin, if desired.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 1985Date of Patent: September 2, 1986Assignee: Patent-Treuhand-Gesellschaft fur elektrische Gluhlampen mbHInventors: Fritz Eckhardt, Peter Helbig, Walter Schonherr

Patent number: 4489252Abstract: A metal sleeve 5 grips the press stem 4 of lamp bulb 1. The metal sleeve, ich is set in the metal base structure 10, has a groove 13 at its outer surface. One end 3a of a current lead-in wire 3 is placed in the groove, contacting the metal base shell 10 which thereby can be made a side contact for the lamp. The placement of the wire end 3a in the groove of the metal sleeve 5 avoids interference with adjustment and focussing of the lamp in the base shell.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 1982Date of Patent: December 18, 1984Assignee: Patent-Treuhand-Gesellschaft fur elektrische Gluhlampen mbHInventor: Fritz Eckhardt

Patent number: 4295076Abstract: To permit insertion of a halogen cycle lamp into a standard bayonet or sc-in socket, the glass press stem of the lamp is connected to a standard base by a resilient spring disk formed with a circumferentially notched or serrated edge fitting into the lamp base, the spring disk being formed with a central opening into which the lamp press stem fits, the press stem having wedge-shaped projections thereon which engage behind tabs projecting from the spring disk. Additional projections may be formed on the lamp for engagement with further tabs on the disk for proper centering of the bulb.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 1979Date of Patent: October 13, 1981Assignee: Patent-Treuhand-Gesellschaft fur elektrische Gluhlampen m.b.H.Inventors: Fritz Eckhardt, Walter Schonherr
