  • Patent number: 4650167
Abstract: A vibration damper comprises a housing defining a cavity; a damping mass accommodated for oscillation in the cavity between wall surfaces; and spring elements situated on two opposite sides of the damping mass. Each spring element is in engagement with the damping mass and a respective one of the wall surfaces for positioning the damping mass in the cavity. Each spring element has a shape selected to confer to the spring element a dynamic deformation behavior characterizing spherical bodies. Further, the spring elements, as viewed together, are arranged at least approximately symmetrically with respect to a central axis of the damping mass oriented parallel to the path of oscillation. The vibration damper also includes an arrangement for guiding the damping mass linearly along the path of oscillation.

  • Patent number: 4385665
Abstract: A device for absorbing kinetic energy derived from an element oscillating in a direction parallel to a longitudinal axis of the device. The device has a housing coupled to the oscillating member and defining a chamber bounded by opposite inner end walls and an inner lateral wall of the housing. The inner end walls are generally transverse to and the inner lateral wall is generally parallel with the axis of the device. An oscillation quencher body which is situated in the chamber, has opposite end faces oriented towards respective inner end walls and a lateral face oriented towards the inner lateral wall. A resiliently deformable impact member is situated between each end face of the body and a respective inner end wall of the housing. Further, at least one groove is provided in the lateral face of the body. The groove has a length generally transverse to and a width generally parallel with the device axis.

  • Patent number: 4290721
Abstract: A toolholder assembly incorporated in a portable power tool having a housing and a drive disposed therein. The assembly includes a toolholder body, a first releasable securing arrangement for attaching the toolholder body to the drive for oscillating the toolholder body in a longitudinal direction; a second releasable securing arrangement at the front end of the toolholder body for attaching a tool bit to the toolholder body, longitudinal guide faces provided on the toolholder body between the two releasable securing arrangements and a bearing member mounted in the housing and provided with longitudinal counterguide faces which slidably cooperate with the longitudinal guide faces of the toolholder body for taking up forces transverse to the direction of the longitudinal oscillation of the toolholder body.
