  • Publication number: 20080199573
Abstract: The invention relates to a stable uncrosslinked hemicellulose paste and also to a method for production thereof. The hemicellulose obtained by alkaline extraction from a hemicellulose-containing material is thereby treated in the alkaline medium with an oxidant, subsequently the pH value is reduced. Subsequent thereto, precipitation and separation of excess liquid is effected with formation of a homogeneous and stable paste. The pastes according to the invention are used in the field of foodstuffs and food additives.

  • Patent number: 6482940
Abstract: A cellulose ether that is predominantly substituted in the C3 position of the anhydroglucose unit of the cellulose is described. In an embodiment of the present invention, the partial degree of substitution in the C3 position of the cellulose ether is ≧60%, based on the total degree of substitution. Also described is a process for preparing the cellulose ether of the present invention. The process involves, reacting cellulose, dissolved in N-methylmorpholine-N-oxide monohydrate (NMMNO) and optionally other inert organic solvents, with alkylation reagents. The reaction takes place in the presence of: (i) an insoluble solid phase catalyst, e.g., solid ion exchange resins based on polystyrene having quaternary ammonium groups; (ii) stabilizers, e.g., propyl gallate; and (iii) optionally additional soluble co-catalysts, e.g., trimethylbenzylammonium hydroxide.

  • Patent number: 5855782
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an arrangement for the elimination of substances by means of a membrane filter wherein the use is foreseen both in the blood cleaning procedures as well as in chemical and biotechnological separation techniques. The fluid containing the substances is run through the primary side of the membrane filter and the secondary side is flowed through by a adsorptive suspension which contains the substance binding particles. A pump drives the adsorptive suspension through the secondary side of membrane filter and causes in this way locally differentiable positive and negative transmembrane pressure differences whereby a local fluid exchange occurs and by means of which the active substances come into contact with the particles. Since the volume of the adsorptive suspension in the secondary circuit is held constant, the mean transmembrane pressure does not alter.

  • Patent number: 4664105
Abstract: The absorbing wound dressing which is atoxic, tissue compatible and very well adjusted to the shape of the wound, it is easily removable, protecting from infections or reduces infections in that it absorbs, in addition to the wound excudate, bacteria, fungi, toxins, proteins and inflammation mediators and which is therefore suitable for covering and cleaning of strongly wetting, infected wounds, as well as effected areas in skin and tissue diseases, consists of potentially macroporous particulate mixtures of regenerated cellulose and a carboxylate groups containing polysaccharide derivative. For making it, viscose solutions, which contain the polysaccharide derivative are thermically coagulated, purified and dried, after the deformation.

  • Patent number: 4536217
Abstract: The invention pertains to the absorbing dressing for wounds, which consists of spherical particles of regenerated cellulose of the size 0.05-0.5 mm (preferably 0.05-0.3 mm) and a macroporous structure characterized by the cyclohexane regain of the dry material at least 0.2 ml/g. The dressing is prepared from the regenerated cellulose swollen with water by replacement with organic solvents and the subsequent drying of the product swollen with the said solvent. The porous structure of the dressing warrants that it can absorb excretions of the wound in the amount 1.5 to 5 g water per g of solids; the grainy macrostructure remains preserved during the absorption so that the material applied on the wound in the form of a powder in the layer 2-5 mm thick, in particular 2-3 mm thick, can be without difficulties and almost without pain rinsed away with water.
