  • Patent number: 9095155
Abstract: A system for treating a food product with a mold inhibitor via spray application in suspended form includes a conveyor for moving the food product as well as at least one upper spray nozzle above the conveyor and at least one lower spray nozzle located below the conveyor. In an embodiment of the invention, one or more end spray nozzles are provided to spray one or more vertical end surfaces of the food product. A fluid supply system for supplies pressurized fluid to the spray nozzles. In an embodiment of the invention, the fluid supply system includes a recirculating reservoir for maintaining the mold inhibitor in suspension. The spray guns are controlled via pulse width modulation such that the instantaneous flow rate and the time averaged flow rate are equal to respective predetermined allowable flow rates.

  • Publication number: 20060110505
Abstract: A generally U-shaped treatment tube for immersing meat in an antimicrobial treatment solution is provided. The apparatus includes an inlet for receiving meat, an outlet for removing meat, a solution inlet for introducing antimicrobial treatment solution into at least a U-shaped section of a tube and a solution outlet to allow solution to be removed from or recycled back through the U-shaped section of the tube. The antimicrobial solution is preferably an alkali silicate containing solution.

  • Patent number: 6146263
Abstract: An apparatus is provided for cleaning poultry carcasses having a cavity. A plurality of cleaning heads are spaced about a sprayer carousel that is rotatably mounted upon a vertical shaft. The cleaning heads are mounted upon a plurality of vertically oriented guide rails which are spaced about the sprayer carousel. A circumferential cam is fixedly connected to the vertical shaft inside the sprayer carousel. A cam follower connected to each cleaning head follows the profile of the cam, displacing the cleaning head vertically along the guide rails. A conveyor transports the carcasses sequentially into and out of engagement with the sprayer carousel and an indexing member maintains each of the carcasses in alignment with one of the cleaning heads. In response to relative movement between the fixed cam and the rotatable sprayer carousel the cam follower of each cleaning head follows the circumferential profile of the cam.

  • Patent number: 5632907
Abstract: A method and apparatus for filtering a liquid from a liquid/solid mixture using a centrifuge. The centrifuge has a conveyor having a hub and a flight for imparting a centrifugal motion to the liquid/solid mixture. The conveyor is rotated for imparting the centrifugal motion. A filter is carried in the tank which holds the conveyor. The filter encircles the conveyor for filtering the liquid from the liquid/solid mixture. A backwash system has a tube having a series of nozzles positioned for spraying a fluid at the filter in a narrow band which circumscribes the filter. The tubing is connected to a header which projects out of the casing through an opening. The fluid sprayed through the nozzles is pumped through the header to the tubing having the nozzles.

  • Patent number: 4993538
Abstract: An apparatus for cleaning the wheels of a trolley of an overhead conveyor, particularly overhead conveyors used in poultry processing, where the apparatus is positioned in-line and coextensive with the guide rail, wherein said apparatus is comprised of an I beam which has been modified such that a spray of high pressure heated water emanates from both lateral faces of the vertical structural component of the I beam, wherein said spray deluges the wheels with water when a trolley passes through the cleaning apparatus.
