Publication number: 20230313486Abstract: An actuated shear pin includes an actuator and pin body coupled to the actuator. The actuator selectively configures the pin body in a locking configuration or a stowed configuration. In the locking configuration, the pin body is placed in a travel path of two components configured to move relative to each other, to inhibit such relative movement. In the stowed configuration, the pin body is out of the travel path, thereby allowing the two components to move relative to each other.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 4, 2022Publication date: October 5, 2023Applicant: Caterpillar Underground Mining Pty Ltd.Inventors: Riley A. Albers, Jason P. Wigg, Dennis W. Dicker, Rowan T. Franks, Robert A. Herold, Steven R. Krause, Fuaad A. Sayeed, Brodie L. Thompson

Patent number: 11726611Abstract: The present invention refers to a method for generating a control command to at least one actuator of an electrohydraulic machine, comprising a step of receiving and monitoring an input signal provided by a user interface, a step of determining if the monitored input signal is related to a user-induced input or a non-user-induced input, and a step of generating the control command upon processing the input signal in dependence on whether the input signal is a user-induced input or a non-user-induced input.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 2021Date of Patent: August 15, 2023Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Niall Hugh McNamee, Fuaad Sayeed, Paul John Cairns, Arick M. Patent number: 11649609Abstract: A hydraulic system for a machine includes an implement pump, a valve, and an implement valve subsystem. The implement pump includes a load sensing control, and the valve controls the flow of hydraulic fluid to the implement pump. The implement valve subsystem includes one or more implement control subsystems to control movement of an implement. The valve is an electrohydraulic proportional relief valve and includes a solenoid configured to adjust the pressure of hydraulic fluid delivered to the implement pump proportionally to a current delivered through the solenoid.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 2020Date of Patent: May 16, 2023Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Patrick W. Sullivan, Jr., Ryan R. Stoffel, Beau D. Kuipers, Andrew N. Schifferer, Royce E. Leaders, Fuaad Sayeed

Patent number: 11512449Abstract: An excavator or other work machine includes a tilting bucket operated by a hydraulic actuator controlled by a bucket control valve responsive to control signals including a bucket shake control signal, which causes the bucket to move repeatedly in the rack and dump directions to shake debris from the bucket in a bucket shake operation. The actuator is powered by pressure from a hydraulic pump, and a control system includes an unloader valve to relieve pressure from the supply line to unload the pump when there is no demand for power. The control system is arranged to maintain a constant pressure signal in a load sensing line, to maintain the unloader valve constantly in a closed condition, for the duration of the bucket shake operation. This may be achieved by pressurising an actuator of a quick coupler to lock the bucket to the machine.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2021Date of Patent: November 29, 2022Assignee: Caterpillar SARLInventors: Paul John Cairns, Fuaad Sayeed, Arick M. Bakken, Niall Hugh McNamee

Patent number: 9790661Abstract: A hydraulic system for a machine is disclosed. The hydraulic system may have a tank configured to hold a supply of fluid, a pump configured to draw fluid from the tank and pressurize the fluid, a first cylinder operatively connected between a first side of a work tool and an undercarriage of the machine, and a second cylinder operatively connected between a second side of the work tool and the undercarriage of the machine. The hydraulic system may also have a first electro-hydraulic valve associated with the first cylinder and configured to selectively regulate a flow of pressurized fluid to the first cylinder independently of the second cylinder, and a second electro-hydraulic valve associated with the second cylinder and configured to selectively regulate a flow of pressurized fluid to the second cylinder independently of the first cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 2014Date of Patent: October 17, 2017Assignee: Caterpillar Inc.Inventors: Timothy L. Hand, Heather Armistead, Fuaad Sayeed, Srikalyan C. Puranam, Stephen Garnett
