  • Patent number: 7147236
Abstract: In order to provide a suspension which is inexpensive and light in weight and which can attain substantially improved vehicle-riding comfort without lowering drivability, an axle is hanged from a chassis side (side rails) by resilient supports (leaf and air springs) with different spring characteristics arranged forwards and rearwards of the axle. The axle 1 is allowed to make rolling motion due to difference in spring characteristic between the forward and rearward resilient supports.

  • Patent number: 6763906
Abstract: A rear part of a vehicle body is supported by a rear-front axle (18) and a rear-rear axle (20), and right and left rear-front wheels (17) rotatably mounted at opposite ends of the rear-front axle (18) are constituted so as to be steered by a steering mechanism. The steering mechanism is driven by an actuator so as to steer the rear-front wheels (17), and the actuator (51) is controlled by the control means. The control means stops the steering of the rear-front wheels (17) when a vehicle speed is approximately zero, and the control means operates the actuator when a difference between a theoretical steering angle of the rear-front wheels (17), relative to that of the front wheels (15), and an actual steering angle exceeds a predetermined value even though the vehicle speed is approximately zero.

  • Patent number: 5291962
Abstract: A power steering device for steering the wheels of a motor vehicle has a booster mechanism, a directional control valve mechanism, a hydraulic pump mechanism, an oil pressure setting valve and a pressurized oil injection valve mechanism. The booster mechanism receives pressurized oil from different directions and generates a steering force to steer the wheels of the vehicle in a left or right direction depending on from which direction the pressurized oil is received. The hydraulic pump mechanism pressurizes hydraulic oil from an oil reserve and supplies the pressurized oil to a feeding side hydraulic pump arrangement. The directional control valve mechanism is connected to the feeding side hydraulic pump arrangement and the booster mechanism and controls which direction the pressurized oil flows from the booster. The directional control valve mechanism has first and second reaction chambers.

  • Patent number: 5145466
Abstract: A limited slip differential for a vehicle comprises a friction clutch disposed between a differential gear mechanism and a drive wheel axle, a clutch control cylinder for coupling and decoupling the friction clutch, a normally closed type solenoid valve for charging compressed air to the cylinder from a pressure air source and a normally opened type solenoid valve for discharging compressed air from the cylinder to the air. The normally closed type and normally opened type solenoid valves are operated by a control unit in response to a low .mu. road start, a low .mu. road run, a straight run and a brake so as to charge and discharge compressed air to and from the cylinder and thereby to control air pressure in the cylinder. A power device for a vehicle is composed by adding an engine control cylinder disposed in an acceleration control mechanism and an engine control valve for charging and discharging compressed air to the cylinder, and wherein during a low .mu.
