  • Patent number: 5664543
Abstract: A hand lever device is disclosed for adjusting the degree of openness of a throttle valve via a cable and kept at a desired opening degree and yet immediately returned to a minimum degree of opening to ensure high safety, thereby diminishing fatigue of fingers, and ensuring a desired level of operation. The hand lever device comprises a main lever (3) and a sub-lever (50) is attached to a wind-up tractive member (60) which draws a cable (20) connected to a throttle valve (CV) in such a manner that one end portion of the cable (20) is wound up thereon, and a torsion coil spring (42) is used as a brake operated by the main lever (30) for braking the wind-up tractive member (60) in order to hold the sub-lever (50) immobilized at any pivotally operated position.

  • Patent number: 5426856
Abstract: A hand-held gardening machine includes a pair of upper and lower clipper blades each formed with clipper teeth. The clipper blades are caused to slidably reciprocate in a longitudinal direction thereof by means of output from a power source. A comb-like safety plate is formed with protrusions protruding beyond the tips of the teeth. The positions at which the protrusions of the safety plate are located are selectable from overlapping positions of the teeth of the clipper blades and positions shifted from the overlapping positions.

  • Patent number: 5383330
Abstract: A hand-held edger is disclosed which is so constructed that the lower portions of the gear box and the safety cover member are prevented from directly scraping against the ground during trimming operation to enable abrasion thereof to be avoided, and that tendency to be caught by lawn grasses and liability to wobble are extremely reduced to enable improved operational properties to be attained. The hand-held edger comprises a supporting rod 14 one end of which is connected to a prime mover, a gear box 20 connected to the other end of said supporting rod 14, a rotary blade 22 which is driven by power transmitted from said prime mover via said gear box 20, a safety cover member 12 which covers said rotary blade 22, and a traveling wheel 17 journal-supported by a rear portion 12b behind said gear box 20, wherein a ring-shaped traveling auxiliary wheel 30 is rotatably mounted over the circumference of said gear box 20.

  • Patent number: 4898039
Abstract: A throttle lever holding mechanism is disclosed in which an intermediate locking member is provided for at least one of first and second throttle levers. The throttle lever is moved in an operational direction so that the throttle lever is kept under a predetermined operational condition by the intermediate locking member. The throttle lever is further moved in the operational direction so that the locking of the throttle lever by the intermediate locking member is released.
