  • Patent number: 8404754
Abstract: A process for recycling a coloured thermoplastic material comprising an absorbed disperse dye comprises contacting the optionally comminuted coloured thermoplastic material with a caustic wash and recovering an at least partly colour-modified thermoplastic composition from the caustic wash.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 5, 2005
Date of Patent: March 26, 2013
    Assignee: Colormatrix Europe Limited
Inventors: Mark Frost, Fuquan Zeng, Victoria Sayer

  • Publication number: 20090298985
Abstract: A thermoplastic polymer additive composition for addition to a thermoplastic moulding composition to reduce discoloration and/or haze and/or increase the degree of light transmission after moulding of the composition comprises at least one hindered phenol compound and at least one acetaldehyde scavenger. The additive composition may be of particular utility when added to a polyester such as polyethylene terephthalate.

  • Publication number: 20040082672
Abstract: A colorant additive composition is described as well as its use for addition to thermoplastic molding compositions, for example thermoplastic molding compositions comprising polyesters, such as polyethylene terephthalate. The colorant additive composition comprises at least one thermolabile sublimable colorant. The colorant additive composition is suitable for use in thermoplastic molding compositions for making, for example, bottles which can be recycled by a recycling process which includes the step of subjecting the recycled material to elevated temperature conditions for a period of time sufficient to cause a desirable change of color by extraction of at least some of the thermolabile sublimable colorant, which extracted colorant may be recovered for re-use.
    Type: Application
    Filed: October 16, 2003
    Publication date: April 29, 2004
    Inventors: Fuquan Zeng, Mark Frost
