Patent number: 9937334Abstract: A catheter, and preferably a urinary catheter, is disclosed, comprising an elongate shaft with a catheter insertion end and a flared connector connected to the elongated shaft opposite to the catheter insertion end. The flared connector forms a catheter connector end. Further, a gripping sleeve is fixedly connected to the flared connector, and arranged to enclose at least part of, and preferably essentially the whole, flared connector, apart from the catheter connector end. Hereby, a standard catheter can easily be customized for various use situations and users with different needs, in terms of e.g. gripping and manipulation possibilities. A method for producing such a customized catheter is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: October 30, 2015Date of Patent: April 10, 2018Assignee: ASTRA TECH ABInventors: Göran Fröjd, Marie-Josée Michon-Gente

Patent number: 9649471Abstract: A catheter assembly includes a catheter, preferably having a hydrophilic surface coating; and a package accommodating said catheter. The package preferably also accommodates a wetting fluid. The package includes a first and a second sheet material connected around the edges; a perforation line extending along a non-closed loop in one of said sheet materials, which defines a flap opening; a third sheet material connected by means of an adhesive over said flap opening. The third sheet material with a margin covers the entire flap opening. The adhesive is adapted to maintain a sterile closure of the package before use, and to be resealable after use. The third sheet material forms a tab not provided with adhesive and the tab provides a grip portion for peel opening of the package.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2013Date of Patent: May 16, 2017Assignee: ASTRA TECH ABInventor: Göran Fröjd

Patent number: 8475434Abstract: A catheter and catheter assembly are disclosed comprising a urinary catheter comprising an insertion end, a rearward end, and a one way check valve arrangement. The check valve arrangement comprises a tubular part of a flexible material, connected to the rearward end of the catheter and extending past the rearward end in a direction opposite to the insertion end, thereby substantially limiting the flow through the catheter to a single direction from the insertion end to the rearward end. Hereby, a very effective anti-reflux function is achieved, and at the same time the construction is relatively simple and inexpensive, and does not require any essential modifications of the other parts of the urinary catheter.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2007Date of Patent: July 2, 2013Assignee: Astra Tech ABInventor: Göran Fröjd
