  • Publication number: 20130220448
Abstract: A low profile backwater valve includes a hollow valve body having an inlet, an outlet, a top and a bottom. A pivoting valve member that is buoyant in water moves between a normally open position along the bottom of the valve body and a closed position sealing the inlet. A locking member is positioned in the hollow valve body. The locking member has a release position below the pivot axis of the valve member that permits the valve member to pivot freely, and a locking position immediately adjacent to the valve member that secures the valve member in the closed position. A handle is attached to the locking member and is accessible from outside and from the top of the hollow valve body. The handle moves the locking member between the release position and the locking position.

  • Patent number: 8312898
Abstract: A plug has a plug body having an upper face and a lower face and a deformable member having opposed pipe engagement ends. A support structure is carried by the plug body and spaced from the lower face. The support structure supports the opposed pipe engagement ends of the deformable member. An actuator extends outward from the lower face of the plug body and is connected to the deformable member. The actuator adjusts the distance of a central portion of the deformable member from the lower face of the plug body to cause the engagement ends to move between a retracted release position and an extended engagement position. The actuator is actuated from the upper face of the plug body.

  • Patent number: 8245732
Abstract: An apparatus for pressure testing a plumbing installation includes a flexible cylindrical body having a peripheral sidewall, a closed end and an open end. A positioning flange extends outwardly from the peripheral sidewall at the open end to facilitate positioning cylindrical body with an end of a pipe into which the cylindrical body has been inserted. An end wall is positioned at the closed end that is. The end wall is curved inwardly and has an inward cylindrical flow channel closed by a partially removable plug. A gripping strip is secured to the partially removable plug that closes an inward cylindrical plug and extends through and past the open end of the cylindrical body, such that upon a force being exerting upon the gripping strip the plug lifts to open the cylindrical flow channel and upon a force continuing to be exerted upon the gripping strip the cylindrical body rolls inside out thereby enabling the cylindrical body to be removed from the pipe.

A sealing surface is carried by the resilient body. A rigid coupling is positioned on the resilient body. The rigid coupling is adapted for coupling the resilient body to a shaft, such that the shaft is able to manipulate movement of the resilient body. The resilient body is inserted into a service opening of a plumbing system to be pressure tested. The resilient body flexes while being inserted and then resiliently returns to the body diameter with the sealing surface performing a sealing function.

  • Publication number: 20110181039
Abstract: An externally engaging test barrier for use in testing hydrostatic pressure in a plumbing system having two abutting plumbing components. The test barrier includes a barrier body having a first face, a second face, and at least one peripheral engagement for engaging an external surface of at least one of the two abutting plumbing components to hold the barrier body in position across an end of at least one of the two abutting plumbing components. The peripheral engagement extends perpendicularly from the first face or the second face. A removable portion of the barrier body is defined by a frangible connection. The peripheral engagement of the barrier body is incapable of sealing the plumbing system during a hydrostatic pressure test, unless used in combination with a pipe coupling that forms an overlying sealing sleeve.
