  • Patent number: 7190933
Abstract: Disclosed is a circuit and method for automatic tuning of a resonant circuit in a transceiver having a receiver and a transmitter that includes a power amplifier for driving the resonant circuit. During a transmit mode of the transceiver, a resonance voltage of the resonant circuit is compared to an input voltage signal to the power amplifier to determine an error signal that is converted into a control word. The control word drives an adjustable capacitance bank that is part of the resonant circuit. During a receive mode of the transceiver, the control word value is held constant to substantially maintain resonance of the resonant circuit during operation of the receiver.

  • Patent number: 7148073
Abstract: Methods and systems for preparing a substrate for analysis are provided. One method includes removing a portion of a copper structure on the substrate using an etch chemistry in combination with an electron beam. The etch chemistry is substantially inert with respect to the copper structure except in the presence of the electron beam. Other methods involve forming masking layers on a substrate that will protect the substrate during etching. For example, one method includes exposing a first portion of the substrate to an electron beam. A second portion of the substrate not exposed to the electron beam includes a copper structure. The method also includes exposing the substrate to a fluorine containing chemical. The fluorine containing chemical bonds to the first portion but not the second portion to form a fluorine containing layer on the first portion.

  • Patent number: 6921599
Abstract: A method for manufacturing an MEA including a layer system, the layer system together with a plastic film located above and below it being punched out by a heated and shaped punching tool. The film-coated layer system, which is welded together only at the outer edges, is further processed by heating and pressing the marginal zones in a subsequent operation, the plastic film softening or melting in the marginal zone and penetrating the marginal regions. Thus, the marginal region in the periphery of the layer system is sealed in a gas-tight manner within seconds. The film inside the marginal zones which is no longer needed or not heated is removed by suction.

  • Publication number: 20050135274
Abstract: A method of configuring link-scope-type managed objects in IP-based networks from a centralized management node. An IP-based network includes at least one management station, a set of network nodes, and communication links between the network nodes and between the management station and the network nodes. Preferably, an Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) topology graph of the network is prepared, and a set of target links to be configured is identified. The target links are then classified into N disjoint subsets, T1-TN. The links in each subset are then configured in parallel, starting with subset T1 and sequentially handling each subset one-by-one. The target links may be classified by removing non-target links that are not to be configured from the OSPF topology graph, building a LinkGraph to determine the dependencies between the links remaining in the OSPF topology graph, and building a LinkTree from the LinkGraph to classify the target links into the subsets based upon the dependencies between the links.

  • Publication number: 20050033528
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for efficiently analyzing defects in-line on a wafer by wafer basis are provided. In general terms, embodiments of the present invention provide a simple interface for setting up the entire inspection and defect analysis process in a single set up procedure. In one embodiment, an apparatus for analyzing defects on specimens is disclosed. The apparatus includes an inspection station for inspecting a specimen for potential defects and a review station for analyzing a sample of the potential defects to determine a classification of such potential defects. The apparatus further includes a computer system having an application interface operable to allow a user to set up the inspection station and the review station during a same setup phase so as to allow the inspection station and the review station to then operate automatically to provide defect information for one or more specimens based on the user set up. Techniques for using such apparatus are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20040241531
Abstract: The invention relates to a membrane-electrode assembly for a self-humidifying fuel cell. The electrodes of the MEA according to the invention consist of a catalyst layer applied on the membrane side, of a microporous electrode layer adjacent thereto and of a macroporous electrode layer disposed thereupon, the microporous electrode layer exhibiting lamellar graphite on the cathode side and, on the anode side, particles of carbon black having a rough surface and having the capacity for storing water. By reason of the structure and the morphology of the respective electrode, by reason of the interaction of the two electrodes in the MEA composite and their coordination with one another, a mass flow from the cathode to the anode develops which favours the back-diffusion of the reaction water through the electrolyte and consequently guarantees an adequate humidification of the electrolyte.

  • Patent number: 6755955
Abstract: A method for producing a catalytic converter includes depositing a layer of catalytically active metallic material by electrochemical deposition on a planar substrate by immersing the substrate in an electrolyte that contains the catalytically active metallic material. A high overvoltage at which a large number of seeds of the metallic material are formed on the substrate is set for a predetermined first time period between the substrate and the opposing electrode. The overvoltage is reduced for a predetermined second time period to a value at which the seeds which are deposited in the first time period grow on the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20030110286
Abstract: The efficiency of transmitting lower priority data traffic along with higher priority traffic is improved by segmenting a data packet in such a way so as to reduce transmission delay of the higher priority traffic. The data packet is segmented so that all its segments, including the last segment, are approximately the same size. The segment size is set smaller than a maximum permitted segment size. Indeed, it is desirable (though not necessary) to set the segment size as small as design parameters, (e.g., minimize segment header overhead), allow in order to reduce transmission delay of the higher priority traffic. Because the last segment is set at the same size or a larger size than the other segments, delay in transmitting the data packet is also reduced. The last segment may be sized as large as practical to minimize the transmission delay of the data packet. Once segmented, the data packet segments are transmitted along with the higher priority traffic.
