  • Patent number: 11758981
Abstract: An article of footwear includes an upper having a tensioning element operable to move the upper between a tightened state and a loosened state. The tensioning element includes a first strand having (i) a first portion extending along a lateral side of an ankle opening of the upper to a first turn in the heel region, and (ii) a second portion extending from the first turn and along the lateral side of the ankle opening to a second end at an anterior end of the ankle opening. The tensioning element also includes a second strand having (i) a first portion extending along a medial side of the ankle opening to a second turn in the heel region, and (ii) a second portion extending from the second turn and along the medial side of the ankle opening to a fourth end at the anterior end of the ankle opening.

  • Publication number: 20230200494
Abstract: An article of footwear includes an upper defining a throat configured to receive a foot. The article of footwear also includes a sole structure coupled to the upper. The article of footwear further includes a panel having a first side coupled to the upper for movement between an open position and a closed position. The panel exposes a portion of the throat in the open position and covers the portion of the throat in the closed position. The article of footwear also includes a strap having a first end and a second end opposite the first end. The first end and the second end are disposed on a first side of the upper with a body portion of the strap disposed between the first end and the second end surrounding the upper.

  • Publication number: 20220361632
Abstract: Footwear and/or sole structures may include any one or more of: (a) a midsole component having one or more relatively large projections that extend into one or more corresponding openings in a midsole component (wherein the free end surface(s) of the large projection(s) may be siped); (b) a midsole component having one or more relatively small protrusions that extend into one or more small corresponding holes in an outsole component; (c) a midsole component having one or more relatively small holes into which one or more small corresponding protrusions on the outsole component extend; (d) a midsole component having medial and/or lateral side ridges (e.g., at least in an arch area) that receive a portion of outermost side edges of a corresponding outsole component; and/or (e) a midsole component having a relatively large central arch recess exposed through an opening in the outsole component.

  • Patent number: 11490679
Abstract: Foot support components include plural foot support members (e.g., arched slats or other support members) forming at least a portion of a footbed for a sole structure/article of footwear. Spacings between individual foot support members enable selective activation of one or more individual members, thereby providing support where needed and enhancing overall comfort without overly stiffening the footbed. When made from sufficiently rigid/resilient materials, the foot support components may apply return energy to the wearer's foot. This may occur, for example, by vertically deflecting (e.g., flattening out) one or more foot support members under applied force, and then the deflected foot support member(s) will spring back to and/or toward its/their original shape when the force sufficiently abates/relaxes.
