  • Publication number: 20230365020
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for routing one or more electrified vehicles in a manner that improves battery life. The proposed systems and methods may utilize a multi-objective approach to route planning. The multi-objective approach may account for factors such as time, energy consumption, and battery life. Origin-destination matrices may be leveraged for providing the multi-objective route planning approaches.

  • Patent number: 11814030
Abstract: A vehicle and control method include a traction battery, a temperature sensor, current sensor, and voltage sensor associated with the traction battery, an electric machine powered by the traction battery to provide propulsive power to the vehicle, and a controller configured to control at least one of the electric machine and the traction battery in response to a battery state of charge (SOC) estimated using a battery model having parameters including a first resistance in series with a second resistance and a capacitance in parallel to the second resistance. The battery model parameters are adjusted during vehicle operation using a Kalman filter and reinitialized to new values in response to a vehicle key-on, in response to a change in the battery current exceeding a corresponding threshold, and/or in response to any of the parameter values crossing an associated limit.

  • Patent number: 11603010
Abstract: This disclosure relates to predicting a charging time for a battery of an electrified vehicle. An example electrified vehicle includes an electric machine configured to provide rotational output power to drive the electrified vehicle, a battery pack configured to output electrical power to the electric machine, and a controller. The controller is configured to predict a profile indicative of a charging rate of the battery pack. The profile is predicted based on whether the battery pack is predicted to be charged based on at least one charging limit of the battery pack.

  • Publication number: 20220212545
Abstract: A vehicle, system, and control method include a traction battery having a plurality of cells, a temperature sensor configured to measure battery temperature of the traction battery, an electric machine powered by the traction battery and configured to provide propulsive power to the vehicle, and a controller configured to control at least one of the electric machine and the traction battery using an estimated battery power capability or estimated battery state of charge based on battery parameters initialized upon requesting activation of the traction battery with an open circuit voltage that varies based on elapsed time from the traction battery becoming inactive. The open circuit voltage may be estimated using parameters including a first resistance, a second resistance in series with the first resistance, and a capacitance in parallel with voltage across the capacitance initialized based on an exponential function of the elapsed time.
