Abstract: A system and method is provided for enabling wireless access to a computer network via communication between a remote (client) wireless device and a wireless device physically linked to the computer network. A bank of one or more wireless gateway devices may be cradled and connected to a network server. The wireless gateway devices may then act as a node on the wireless network, and remote wireless devices may send and receive messages to and from the wireless gateway devices using PIN-to-PIN messaging. The wireless gateway devices, when cradled, may communicate with any attached server or other network equipment, and may therefore act as a wireless gateway to the server or other network equipment.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for enabling a wireless hand-held device to interface with a server-based spell check engine. A user views available features and functionality associated with a spell check engine on a graphical user interface (GUI) associated with a wireless hand-held device. The user performs interface actions of the spell checking process on the wireless hand-held device itself, such as observing the misspelled words, selecting a spelling from a list of alternatives, placing a word to a saved “ignore list”, or other display components associated with a spell check engine. Various functions of the spell checking process are performed remotely via a server-based spell check engine. The remote spell check engine includes a number of enhanced resources such as increased processing power and memory, a larger lexicon, a larger dictionary, or other enhanced spell-checking resources.

Abstract: There is disclosed a system and method for the automatic routing of incoming facsimiles (faxes) to their intended recipients. The faxes are received by a fax server and the routing information is automatically determined by analysis of the fax pages. The fax is converted into data in the fax server, whereby it is routed to the intended recipient, for example, in an electronic format such as electronic mail (e-mail). The system does not impose any constraints on the content of the faxes or their sending mechanism, and is thus transparent both from the sender's viewpoint and the recipient's.
