Publication number: 20230077375Abstract: A rodless guide microwave radiation device, system, and method is disclosed for measuring at least one characteristic of a liquid in a vessel. A hollow metal waveguide conveys microwave radiation and is adapted to be disposed in a vessel for containing a liquid, the waveguide having a first end and a second end. A single chip radar sensor mounted on a PCB is disposed proximal to the first end of the hollow waveguide. The radar sensor is configured to transmit millimeter wavelength signals into the first end of the hollow waveguide for propagating down the waveguide toward the second end, and receive a return echo from the signal based upon a change in impedance upon encountering the liquid and propagating in the reverse direction of the waveguide, the single chip radar sensor including electronic circuitry for determining at least one characteristic of the liquid located in the waveguide based on detection of an impedance change according to time domain reflectometry.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 25, 2022Publication date: March 16, 2023Inventors: Chester Wildey, Gagik Farmanyan, Benjamin N. Lease, Lucas J. Ackerman, Michael Bowen

Patent number: 9151657Abstract: A liquid level transducer for a tank, such as a railroad tank car or the like, includes a mounting head connected to the tank and a sensor assembly extending into the tank from the mounting head. The sensor assembly includes a sensor tube located in the tank and a gauging rod assembly positioned in the sensor tube. The gauging rod assembly can be pulled out of the tank until it magnetically couples with a magnetic float that surrounds the sensor tube. The float moves in response to a change in liquid level and the magnetic coupling provides the user with a visual indication of the liquid level. A sensor board extends along a length of the gauging rod assembly and is responsive to movement of the float for electronically determining the liquid level without the need to magnetically couple the gauging rod assembly to the float.Type: GrantFiled: September 10, 2014Date of Patent: October 6, 2015Assignee: Texas LFP, LLCInventors: Herbert G. Ross, Jr., Gagik Farmanyan, Carl Alan Taylor
