  • Publication number: 20230077375
Abstract: A rodless guide microwave radiation device, system, and method is disclosed for measuring at least one characteristic of a liquid in a vessel. A hollow metal waveguide conveys microwave radiation and is adapted to be disposed in a vessel for containing a liquid, the waveguide having a first end and a second end. A single chip radar sensor mounted on a PCB is disposed proximal to the first end of the hollow waveguide. The radar sensor is configured to transmit millimeter wavelength signals into the first end of the hollow waveguide for propagating down the waveguide toward the second end, and receive a return echo from the signal based upon a change in impedance upon encountering the liquid and propagating in the reverse direction of the waveguide, the single chip radar sensor including electronic circuitry for determining at least one characteristic of the liquid located in the waveguide based on detection of an impedance change according to time domain reflectometry.

  • Patent number: 9683874
Abstract: A liquid level transducer includes a mounting head connectable to a tank, a probe assembly extending into the tank, and a hose connecting assembly positioned on the mounting head outside of the tank. The probe assembly can include liquid withdrawal and return tubes and a sensor tube for determining the level of liquid within the tank. Bores are formed in the mounting head in alignment with the liquid withdrawal, return, and sensor tubes. First retaining features at least partially surround the withdrawal/return bores. The hose connecting assembly includes hose connectors with bases that have second retaining features that cooperate with the first retaining features so that the hose connectors can be aligned with the bores and adjusted to different angular positions about the central axes of the bores during assembly.

  • Patent number: 9464929
Abstract: A liquid level transducer includes a mounting head for connection to the wall of a tank and a housing extending into the tank from the mounting head. A float rod is pivotally connected to the housing and a float is connected to the float rod for pivotal movement upon a change of liquid level in the tank. A proximal end of the float rod is connected to an actuator portion and constrained for pivotal movement about two parallel axes so that the actuator portion moves in a linear direction with respect to the housing. The interior of the housing includes a sensor assembly responsive to the linear movement of the actuator portion to thereby determine the level of liquid within the tank.

  • Patent number: 9151657
Abstract: A liquid level transducer for a tank, such as a railroad tank car or the like, includes a mounting head connected to the tank and a sensor assembly extending into the tank from the mounting head. The sensor assembly includes a sensor tube located in the tank and a gauging rod assembly positioned in the sensor tube. The gauging rod assembly can be pulled out of the tank until it magnetically couples with a magnetic float that surrounds the sensor tube. The float moves in response to a change in liquid level and the magnetic coupling provides the user with a visual indication of the liquid level. A sensor board extends along a length of the gauging rod assembly and is responsive to movement of the float for electronically determining the liquid level without the need to magnetically couple the gauging rod assembly to the float.

  • Patent number: 9116030
Abstract: A transducer for determining the level of liquid within a container includes a mounting head adapted for connection to the container and a sensor assembly adapted to extend into the container. A housing of the sensor assembly has a hollow interior that is isolated from liquid within the container. A plurality of sensor elements are located within the interior. A float rod is pivotally connected to the housing and a float is connected to a distal end of the float rod. An actuator located outside the housing is operatively associated with the float rod for pivotal movement therewith. The actuator is operative to change an electrical state of at least one of the sensor elements to thereby indicate a level condition of the liquid within the container.
