Abstract: Novel derivatives of dihydro-1,4,2-oxathiazine and dihydro-1,4-dithiine oxides, more particularly, novel derivatives of dihydro-1,4,2-oxathiazine and dihydro-1,4-dithiine oxides that target cysteine residues of biomolecules of pharmacological importance are provided as pharmaceutically useful compounds, for example, as anticancer, antiinfectious, antigastric acid secretion, antiosteoporosic, and antiinflammatory agents.

Abstract: The use of certain tetrazole compounds as fungicides is disclosed wherein said compounds are of the structural formula: wherein: R is selected from the group consisting of phenyl groups of the structural formula: and thienyl groups of the structural formula: and X and Y are each selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, haloalkyl, halogen, and nitro. Novel compounds wherein X is selected from the group consisting of haloalkyl, halogen, and nitro and Y is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, haloalkyl, halogen, and nitro are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method of controlling pests is disclosed wherein the method comprises contacting said pests with an effective amount of a pesticide comprising a composition comprising: A) a compound of the formula: wherein R1 is a straight-chain perfluoroalkyl group or a partially fluorinated straight-chain alkyl group and R is a phenyl group or a substituted phenyl group having at least one substituent, wherein the substituent is selected from the group consisting of amino, formyl, halo, alkyl, alkoxy, haloalkyl, haloalkoxy, and nitro; and B) a suitable carrier therefor. In a preferred embodiment, the pesticide is a herbicide.
