A method includes receiving a document in which an optimized title is desired, identifying a maximum number of characters a search engine reads when characterizing the document, applying phrasal analysis to the document, identifying topics included in the document, computing candidate titles based on the identified topics, sorting the candidate titles based on the number of topics in each candidate title, selecting the candidate title with the largest number of topics as a candidate optimized title, and selecting the candidate optimized title in response to determining that the candidate optimized title character length is less than the maximum size.

Abstract: An intent guessing system receives partial user queries as they are entered by the user. The partial user queries are compared with different intents derived from previously logged queries. Guesses are made as to which of the intents are associated with the partial user query. The intent guesses are then provided as responses to the user query. Features are identified for the earlier logged queries and associated with the derived intents. The derived intents and associated features are then used to identify intents for the partial user queries.

Abstract: A navigation system is used in combination with a data retrieval system to more effectively locate the correct answers or information in search content. The navigation system provides taxonomies that identify different information categories and sub-categories (facets). Classifiers automatically classify the search content by identifying the content corresponding with associated facets. The facets, in conjunction with the associated classifiers, provide robust classification and correlation between both structured and unstructured content. Rules can be used in conjunction with the facets and classifiers to automatically control different navigation operations. The navigation system can also leverage ontologies to dynamically create taxonomies and provides unique facet expansion and intra-document classification operations.
